I recently ordered a set of new tti headers for my low deck dart 1970 drag car project because I was not ever going to be happy with the 25 inch tall tires and fenderwell headers.
I ended up purchasing a set of 28×4.5 Hoosiers because I look at the hemi cars and love their look tall tires in back (mine are 30.6) and bigger tires in the front too.
Did I pick the right set of tires ?
I know it will help with oil pan and header ground clearance, and also front suspension travel but for any chance anyone knows that they just physically won't fit please let me know.
If anyone has any photos they can share please post them.
Thank you

They will fit but make sure your alignment is done and get the max. amount of caster. They will clear the front edge. ps it works much better if you get the longer aftermarket upper control arms it will fix a lot of the bump steer.

Okay, thanks. I'll look into the upper control arms.

Yes a great upgrade. Back in the day used to buy an extra set and cut and weld a piece from them to the other set to make them longer.
Cool, so I should get some that are very adjustable then. Yeah I can't see trusting a spliced upper control arm, and I am confident in my welding lol

You don't need the adj. ones just loinger. The adj. ones will drive your alignment guy crazy. I'll see if I can find the receipt from the ones I put on my 340 Barracuda. They are very nice.

Yes, caster is good but too much make the steering harder, but you can take your hands off the wheel at a buck 30. What brand are they?

I'm not sure what brand they are but they're sold by performance online.

I guess I'm not to worried about steering and more about high speed stability since this is only a 1/4 mile car

You can check with them and call the mfg. to see what mods they did.

Just looked at my file. They are Magnum force. I think I slightly trimmed some metal to put them on. Great product and good people to deal with. They will powder coat them for you also.

A couple months ago one of the shootout teams was selling some used tires. I'll see if I can find out what size they are.

By the way I've used 28-inch tires on all my A Bodies hot rods and have them on the Cuda and had them on my Hemi Dart.

I’m not sure about the Hoosier 28”, they may clear because they are more rounded, but my 28” MT SR radials were catching, they have a more square edge too though.

In my case I had to make a gradual pie cut on the front edge. At the bottom I cut an approx. 5/8” pie that went up about 6.5”. (5/8” removed at the bottom that tapered to nothing at the top of the cut). No problem with clearance now but it was touching before. Hope this helps.
