where is the best place to hook on this 225 /6 to lift it out of the engine bay. Tranny is off so I need to lift it straight up. I have found some places but I am not too sure on a /6. been a long time since I lifted one of these. thanks,Bill

there are two bolt holes in the top of the head between the manifold surface and the valve cover.

You can also use 2 of the trans bolts on the back and 1 at the alternator. I should keep it balanced as you lift it.

We used the 2 bolt holes on top of the head and then hooked a stout chain between with some slack and picked the best link for balance. When putting back in, I attached an old Ford 302 motor lift bracket on the chain and picked the bet hole in that. You can kinda see it here above the rags on the manifold. The lift hook is in the blue bracket's front hole above the engine and you can see it bolted to the chain.

Just did this a month or so ago. Like the other guys have said. 2 bolts sitting on top. Front one lifts and balances engine only. Back one balances engine and transmission together. Both work for almost perfect balancing.

I agree, front bolt. motor only, rear bolt. motor and trans. Works like a charm. Get a grade 8 bolt and a hoist tab and hook it off the tab. Dang, thats a clean slant!

Should be.... freshly rebuilt and painted! Got an X-mas afternoon ride planned it if dries out a bit to do a bit more break in....

I'd always be connected in some fashion in both bolt holes, just in case one breaks out.

What size/thread bolts for the 'use the bolts in the head' method?
I'm about to yank a slant this weekend.

Thanks!

John

3/8", coarse thead. Grade 8 is best but a good quality grade 5 will do. Get 2 of 'em about 2" long with flat washers to bear on the chain links.

Merry Christmas!

Thanks, and Merry Christmas to you, too!
