when replacing adj bearings in 8 3/4 rear axle with green bearings do you need to disassemble rear axle to remove thrust buttons or not? different people have different answers to this question which lead me to this post.

Purchased axles from Moser which were initially too long. This resulted in improper fit. When shortened to correct length, button was left in without further issue. Moser assured me axles are now correct length and can go back to tapered roller bearings if so desired.

Moser sent mine to long as well so couldn't install the chunks I have with Borg Warner suregrip
Only the ones with Dana PowerLock with pins removed would work. Who cut yours Moser or you or someone local? How much was required

With the new style green berings you don't need to remove the thrust bushings and the new style is all Dr . Diff sells .

Returned to Moser. If I remember correctly, would say 3/8 to 1/2 inch total which would be 3/16 to 1/4 on each axle. Know it was not much.

When I asked Dr. Diff his answer is you can leave them in.

Yes, the ones that have the circlips on bearing races.

The thrust spacers are held in place with a long split pin. I have seen many of these pins broken so the spacers are left "floating" in place. Make sure your spacers are solidly in place.
