Wife wants me to get rid of ride!

If you don't have a truck now for regular use, you could explain to her that as homeowners a truck will always be useful to have around. Get it fixed up nice, and use it while you're working on either the house or your car. There's no reason why, other than show, that you couldn't have the truck all fixed up and use it as a driver/hauler too, and a very cool one at that.

Good god you guys have been busy on here.... I have no clue where to begin, wait...yes I do. I AM A MAN...the pregnant comment was an attempt at whit. Secondly, I have absolutely no attachment to the willy's. I've put time into it, but I've put more time into the restoration of the duster. And if I get rid of the willy's I still have my dodge ram as my every day truck.

And I'm not getting rid of my wife. case closed.

she's isn't forcing my to sell the truck. she simply said if I want to do the modifications to the duster right now, I need to get rid of the willy's. which I must admit, I've lost interest in a while ago. I have everything to finish the truck in the garage, including paint. Maybe, a picture of my duster crushing a corvette hung above the door will inspire me to hurry my arse up. The truck is actually relatively close to being done.

Think i would have any problem getting 10g out of the truck finished and running?

I've owned ONE 66 Hemi Satelite, ONE new 71 Hemi GTX and have had 4 wives in my 58 years. This one is a no brainer!

I have actually contemplated finishing the willy's and selling my dodge ram. Its pretty nice, Laramie 4door hemi 4x4. I could easily get 15,000 for that truck. Keep the willy's and have even more money to throw at the duster!

Ease up there Shirley, We're just poking fun at ya. I would be interested in trading your Willys for,

Then sell the WILLYS to the highest bidder and
get busy on the car.

You didn't really think you could post something
like that on here and us not bust yer chops did ya?

Tell your wife the next time she wants to buy something she as to get rid of something. Problem solved.

I like it!

Wait a minute, when I buy something for the ride, I usually have to get her something. :banghead:

I just bought an engine the other day and she decided she wanted a new laptop.

I think maybe you meant "wife"? ;) LOL Might not wanna let her see that. :violent1:

that is what I would do... althogh I have a 59 Suburban, my 69 Barracuda, my wife's 68 Mustang (her dad bought it new) and 2 47 Ford COEs (actually one truck and 2 cabs) you can always buy another RAM but, not another Willys! I had a Willys Wagon for 18 years and miss it.... although it needed a lot of body work (rust repair) that I didn't have time to get after...

Gotcha! When you said you was pregnant..... then there is the wife thing..... I figured you might be one of them diesels. These are confusing times with confused people, sorry about the confusion. LOL

if I were to drive that willy's every day, I think I would need modern conveniences like power steering and streetable gears. and idk if I can even get a different ratio for both the pumpkins. the front is a little different

If you think you can sell you dodge truck for 15K and dump the money in the Willys you are a fool.
I have a frame off Willys CJ-2A that I have over 20K in.
Did all the work myself except the machining on the block.
Frame off new steel body.
It is pretty nice, guess what after driving it with basicly stock rebuilt running gear, Ross steering, crappy 9" drum brakes, I am adding disk brakes, modern steering, and a overdrive. Just the aftermarket parts will run about 3K.

Dont sell the Duster, I sold my first car I bought after owning it for 11 years (Challenger) and have regreated it ever since.

You said you have all the parts for the Willys, throw it together and get it running, I bet you could get 3-5K out of it as is.
But then you would not want to get rid of it (hint)

No sir, I believe you misunderstood the thread. If I sold my ram, I would drive the willy's and dump the money into suspension for the duster. lol I actually think I might go on some jeep forums like other members here suggested and try pushing it there. I've done some researching and if I were to finish the truck, which is realistically a couple month job, I should be able to get 10g pretty quick. I saw a couple in the 13-14 range that I am certain my truck will compete with if I complete it. so now I must decide to sell it now for 4-5g, or get off my ***, take a couple months, and double my money.

Oh and by the way, I got to say you guys are all cool as hell in my book. you all have had me cracking up all day! thanks for the laughs

There is a kick *** build on an old willys truck, that the guy has owned for like 30 years, the craftmanship is out of this world.
I think his thread is like 80 pages long by now.
Be warned it will take you about a day to read everything.

keep the jeep, otherwise you are building a control freak. seen it with many of my friends over the past 30 years, most of them are divorced now, and broke, no toys.
me, I'm still doing what I want, when I want. my wife of 32 years, is 1 of a kind
maybe, yours is too
