will SB exhaust manifolds seal against aftermarket EQ heads?

Maybe, depends on the heads themselves.

340 exhaust manifolds
Some older threads mention EQ heads but they are referring to the old New Zealand-cast heads, not the current China-cast heads.
340 manifolds and Magnum heads

@DionR

Looks like you covered it.

Really comes down to how much material there is below the exhaust ports. If it is just enough then adapter plates will be needed. If there is an excess, should probably work. That said, I have yet to see any aftermarket heads that have enough material, including the MP R/T heads that I have.

I think a set of Doug's is the better path myself. Not that I have personally verified that the port matches, but I have asked other's and they say things match up better.

Personally, even though they don't flow quite as well as the 340 manifolds, I think 318 manifolds' ports match the Magnum port size better and are more likely to seal well.
But then again, nothing matches a Magnum port as well as a Magnum manifold. And you know they'll seal.

And a Magnum PS manifold fits, too. That would mean only having to deal with the DS if you wanted to stick to more performance oriented cast manifolds.

its genuine new zealand EQ heads in a 66 dart stock car with a thin racing steering shaft. the big problem I am having is finding a manifold that wont be too close to the shaft but I'd also like to find one that would seal well
