Will the Hemi live on?

-
Well, I hope that they follow through with it.
If they do, I bet their profits and reputation will go up...

From my understanding, they redid the wiring and electronics, to make the Hurricane 6's work, probably because of the needs of the direct injection. This is incombatable with the Hemi. To save coin, they just dropped the Hemi entirely. However, with demand as strong as it is, that was a big booboo on them. They misread the futures entirely.

If they build Hemi Chargers we might be in the market, if not I'm pretty sure I can keep our 2018 going for the rest of our lives. Not buying an EV ever or a 6 anything. It also may have to do with a new sheriff in town to rein in the EPA Nazis.

The true Hemi design will likely die, but the marketing name never will.

The straight 6 gas turbo engine was planned for the new Charger from its inception. They just offered the EV version earlier. So this isn't a pivot or change to gas engine it was in the plans all along.

Stalantis did not invest in making the V8 meet new EPA regulations like Ford and GM have done. So Stalantis made decision many years ago milk the hemi cash cow then discontinue it. Mean while GM and Ford have been and continue to invest in gas V8s.

No word on a new Challenger anywhere I can see. 2 and 4 door Chargers is what they say they have plans.

Above article click bait and its working too.

Seems to me that official go forward plans come and go and change as the wind blows on a daily basis. This has been going on for years now IMHO. With all the social media platforms out there it's tough to get an official straight story, Makes me wonder if anyone there has an actual plan.
Some additional examples:
New Chrysler models.
Ram Dakota mid size truck.

For what it's worth, I think Stellantis had more of an uphill battle to make a Hemi meet the standards than Ford or GM did with their engines. The benefit of the Hemi is also its downfall, really good flowing heads. The design is very prone to shooting intake aircharge directly through the cylinder and out the exhaust valve with any kind of overlap. Direct injection could potentially help to address that by only injecting fuel once you are sure the exhaust valve is closed, but I think we've all seen that DI has its own headaches as well with dirty intake valves and no gasoline detergents to help things out there.

You could also just possibly focus more time and design on aftertreatment to get around that, but then you're getting dangerously close to the world of diesel where the air coming out of the tailpipe can almost be cleaner than the air going into the engine to start with, not to mention packaging issues and cost.

I can tell you that me personally, I don't want to have anything to do with some overpriced battery operated street golf cart! I'm pretty sure a majority of Americans feel the same way.

We like to make our cars our own, customize and most importantly modify our cars. And no way do I want to drive and not hear the roar of an IC engine. These auto manufacturers are already realizing that you can't shove those boring, high dollar golf carts down our throats. They will have no choice but to shift gears back to focus on the IC, if they want to stay in business.

Very true, as the incentives for buying EVs are drying up, so are the sales. I can't see myself ever owning one, especially not a new one, hell I can't afford a new anything, and I wouldn't buy a used one for any price. I'll keep my gas powered cars and trucks.

Honestly, I love the look of the new Charger and could see getting one at some point, but I have too many vehicles to begin with. That being said, it would never be my only car. I like different cars for different reasons and wouldn't mind having a nice, quiet, comfortable car every once in a while when I just want to run some errands or make some short trips around town. I had a 2000 Jaguar XKR as my daily for a while and it was everything I've never had in a car before. Automatic climate control, cruise control, power everything, nav, heated seats, you name it. It was super comfortable to drive and looked pretty nice too, but it bored me to death to drive it every single day. I used to daily my Viper and after the cam swap I did during an engine rebuild, it's just not as fun to daily anymore. It's too loud and too harsh to be my sole transportation and wears on you over time. That's one reason I've been doing so much more work on my Dart to make it suit my preferences and be my main daily. That being said, I'd never sell either as I enjoy both and like the variety.

I don't have a problem with EVs at a fundamental level. If you want to drive an EV and it works for you, go for it. I think they are a great idea for running around town or short trips where you wouldn't get an ICE vehicle up to temp and could be really convenient, but they are not the "only" answer that everyone is making them out to be. They are "an" answer for some people, but not the universal solution everyone seems to think they are.

Haven't you heard about the "drag" mode with fake exhaust stereo engine noise?

Haha, yeah, I was going to mention the fake exhaust with speakers that try to "mimic" the experience of driving a real car.

And what happens when the speaker starts to crackle or blows out, or the fact that the sounds doesn't really synchronize with the acceleration or throttle. It's kind of like watching a foreign movie that has been dubbed in English and lips don't match what they are saying...lol.

They got rid of the stupid asshole that made those decisions, so maybe they'll listen to all the ghetto trash in Kansas City, which seems to drive Chargers and Challengers exclusively.

I know Mother Mopar ( Stelantis) gives a c***, but there are reasons my latest toys are Ford!! :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead:

The new Charger looks better in person than in photos. Anyway, no compelling need for a BEV.

$79,680 MSRP
Of course the dealership will have add-ons like tinted windows, as well as imaginary services, various fees, & etc.

Price may be steep, but you know what? Someone's going to pay up, and then barely ever drive it.

And if recent history is any indicator, in a few years it will be sold at Meacham or B-J for twice that amount, or more.

Add 30% or more here in Canada, no way am I able to drop $100k+ on a friggin' new car.

Yeah buy EV Charger for 80k, never drive it, and it doubles in value at a car auction? Fake engine sounds out of speaker under rear bumper. I think yes there will be some ppl have to have newest car but I think its gonna be a low volume sales flop. As far as future collector car doubling in value, probably not.
