Anyone have a temporary fix for a part of the windshield seal leaking water into the cabin floor on the driver's side? I've replaced the wiper pivot seals and all, and I'm 99% sure it's just coming in through the bottom windshield seal somewhere. I'd like to replace the windshield eventually but I'd also like to slow the leak in the meantime.

Are you sure it's not coming in around the vent tube in the cowl area?? Especially if your drains are clogged up and there is debris in there. Water can run up and over the vent.

Just food for thought!

I have that problem too. The rear glass as well. Hell the whole firewall leaks. I never seen anything like that.

How do you know for sure it's the window seal? From what I read, it could be the window seal, the wiper pivot seals, all the freaking screws that dodge/plymouth decided to run THROUGH the firewall (didn't any of them hear about rain?), or it could be your cowl is clogged so water is overflowing into the cab. Oh, could be the steering wheel shaft seal too.

I have water coming in through ALL of those orifices. It makes me want to tear the dash apart and spray the inside with that sealant you see on TV that seals against water. I think it's called FlexSeal or something.

Have someone spray your windshield and cowl with a garden hose while you get up under that dash looking for leaks. I don't have any pictures as of yet, but maybe over the weekend I get some of my problem areas.

We might be able to work together on a solution!

It's dripping down from above the steering column (hard to pinpoint because it travels along the dash components). I cleaned out both sides of the cowl completely, and made sure the drain holes were properly cleaned out. I even put holes in the engine bay side of the cowl to do this. It's definitely either the windshield seal, or something else up high.

Well, the only thing left would be rust holes around the vents, which is common, and that would allow water in.

Not saying it not the windshield, just throwing out all of the options.

wouldn't rust holes around the vents end up in my fresh air boxes, or around them? definitely not so bad there.

Possibly, but the way the box seals is around the circumference of the ring, water is going to take the path of least resistance.

Like I said, just throwing it out there, it is a possibility.

So I took apart the instrument cluster and traced the leak to the gasket seal, where the dash metal seams right before it start to turn the corner towards the door, on the driver's side. It was dripping down the dash screw there.

The fix: I shoved some great stuff in the seam areas, and around the seam corner. Sprayed it in around 6 inches past the leak, and stopped just where the seam forms a corner, before the rubber seal part that you can see in the pic. Let it cure overnight, no more leak. If it is leaking, it's so slow I can't tell. This will keep it for now until I can replace the windshield. They also make a great stuff for water installations that probably would have been more appropriate, but I found out too late.

worked at a body shop early 70s, we run air hose from compressor in door , with end off hose and ran it under the door so it would seal at top of windows, take a bucket of soapy water and mop around windows , bubbles would blow if there was a leak at windshield or rear glass, or around cowl panel opening
