woodruff key in crankshaft

Penetrating oil, a good sharp narrow chisel & a BFH. Good luck, I've fought with them until I almost lost my religion.

I've always taken a big flat head screw driver and lightly tapped them out with a small ball peen hammer.

I've done the same with a narrow flat blade screwdriver in the channel and tapping it with a hammer....

Put the crank nose in a vise with the jaws just making contact with one end of the key. Wind up the vise handle & the other end of the key will pop out of the slot...with no damage to the key. Works on cam keys as well. You can also use a press instead of a vice.
