Hello everyone
I just pull the motor out but the number is not the same . The year looks correct.
I know the 3 speed transmission match the car. Is possible that they use a different block serial number?
Also looks like this intake was set up for a Carter not a thermoquad.

The VIN on the engine in on the pan rail, not the front of the block. The front of the block has the build information for the engine only. ALL 1971 340s had Thermoquads.

1) Carter made the thermoquad.
2) some times chrysler made mistakes and installed the wrong engine in the right car. Correct sized but wrong stamped number.
3) this car is over 50 years old. Nothing is saying the engine had not been changed out at one point.
