73 Duster build named Fred

Nice! at least you got to go make some hits. It's not uncommon to lose ET sorting out a new combo, think of it this way, a 1/2 sec is just a blink, that's what I was told from a very good source.
MPH?

What was the new converter flashing to?

It’s just semantics, but I look at it as the new cam/converter pairing resulted in a lower stall speed.

Did you happen to notice how much rpm fallback there was after the shift?

Was there more than one cam tried previously?

There was a forward facing scoop before?

Don’t take this the wrong way but…….you checked for full throttle?
Sent you a pm

Well guys rookie mistake here. Thanks to PRH for mentioning it. Looks like I ran Fred with a throttle stop as the throttle was not going back all the way. I know I checked this too. Also, converter is flashing to about 5400/5500. Going back to the track Oct. 9th when a friend is renting the track. This should be comparable weather too with how I ran it last year. This makes total since too with low rpm's at high end. Oh well I guess I am slowly breaking Fred in!

Was it a fair amount shy of WOT?
Yes, I’d say so…probably about an inch or so. I did previously check this so not sure what happened. But, this makes since on why it wasn’t going through the traps around 7000/7200 like it did last year.

Geez, I go out of the country for a couple of weeks and I miss a whole bunch of stuff. None of it made sense until I saw you weren't getting full throttle. Now it all makes sense.

The -48 is what I told you to get from the get-go. Not sure why Paul talked you out of it and suggested the -46. At any rate, sounds like you are right there converter wise now. I bet it flashes a bit higher now with getting full throttle. Also should get real close to your goal of 10.20 if not quicker. I remember when we took Fred to Vegas and went down the track for the very first time, shifting at 6800 vs 6000-6200 made .7 sec difference.

Looking forward to hearing about the next time out.

You should just go and be there, since you missed all the other stuff... jeez Bill get on your private jet (lol John) and be there.

More like I could not talk Paul into the 48. Anyway looks like converter should be good now and Throttle fixed. I did short shift it too. First time out always a learning experience. Should be good to go now! I’ll keep you posted for sure.

Any plans for one more outing before the season ends?
No, its hunting season and its together and running good. I am putting Fred in heated storage at the end of the month. I bought my old converter back, and will be advancing the cam 4 degrees when I bring him home. I may even try another intake down the road.
