I’m trying to find out what this engine number means
P273-4-27
2250
Australian I think

I believe the top number is the year, motor size, month and day...Someone else could verify this and chime in with the rest. Good luck interesting question.

Does not match up with any other descriptions
Unless maybe the P should be an R or something lol

I think the P is the year...or at least it's in the position in the sequence that would be expected to be the year

Supposed to be out of a VC V8 Valiant
Australia
Mid 60s so probably an earlier leftover from the States

Prior research tells that last 3 digits after 273 are month and day
I’m thinking the 2250 is sequential product number

Normally the P273 would reference the model year IE A273=1965 B273=1966 C273=1967 and the other number 4-27 the date the engine was assembled.
Now unless the P is actually a B I cannot comment. As for the 2250? no idea.
