So here is another curve ball.. I just found a B-Body 8.75 it says 68-70, will the 489 center section off of my a-body unit interchange?
The B-Body already has BBP axles and i have the complete drum brake setup coming tomorrow.
Will everything else lineup as far as the leaf springs and...
I just got the BBP drum brake assy from a fellow member on this site. Should be here Thursday. I just need to buy the drums.
The Dr.Diff setup has been out of stock for a year or so. Cass did say he might have more later this year.
Thanks for that info, i did forget to mention the rear brakes...
The trans is a 727.. Not sure on the cam, i know the motor has been gone through many yrs ago. We were told it is .30 over, sounds like a mild cam, the car is nothing to radical. Motor was fresh when we got it back in the mid 90's, but the trans went out after only a few thousand miles of...
The car is just a cruiser for now. Someday i think it would be fun to run it down the strip for a test/tune day but nothing crazy.
I have thought about the complete rear end deal also, just figured for on extra $1000 or so i know what i would already have and everything would be fresh.
Just...
I plan on going through my 8.75 at the end of the season once i purchase everything needed.
So as far as i know, it is a stock 8.75 with a 489 "open" center section with stock 5x4 bolt pattern axles.
I already have the front swapped out to the BBP so i plan on doing the same in the rear...
What wheels are you going with? I kind of like the look of a narrower tire in front. Not too narrow but a litte different size.
I plan on going with a 245/45 in front and a 255/45 in the rear for my Demon. Atleast until i figure out what wheels i'm going with. I am so indecesive, just want it to...
XXR 559 Flat Graphite Wheels 5x4.5 - 18x8.5 +20 - 559886696
These are an 8.5 wide wheel with a +20 offset so i think they should work front and rear.
Plus they kind of look like a pitchfork, lol
Post your wheel and tire combos.
So i found this Demon and really like how it looks. It says it has disc fronts and a stock 8.75 with drums, same as mine.
Is 4.5 enough backspacing for the fronts? I would rather use an 8" front wheel, not a 7". The Rear shows 9.5 with 5.25 back space.
Looks like...
XXR 530 Flat Black - XXR Wheels - PowerHouse Wheels & Tires
Here is another option i found, the front and rear would have the same offset but i think they would work. The fronts just won't be tucked in as far.
