Anyone running edelbrock 60775 performer rpm heads on a 340?
So the theory is proven in your case .... good to hear a real experience. Do you know your static and dynamic CR's by any chance?Ed. 60179s on my 340. With iron X heads it was pinging, even on 93 octane gas with the timing retarded. Put these heads on, it runs smoother, cooler, and no more pinging even with the timing advanced to where it should be.

You are running a 4.1" bore?Should be about 10.0:1 but I don't know for sure. This is just going off the calculator at Summit Racing. (rebuilt with flat-top "stock" 340-type .060" oversize pistons)
Shows 4.060 was thinking of running kb dome ?You are running a 4.1" bore?
Yes 4.040 +.060 is 4.100You are running a 4.1" bore?
Yes, here, 11-1 & a [email protected] duration cam.How about 65cc closed chambers on a 360?
What theory is proved ?So the theory is proven in your case .... good to hear a real experience. Do you know your static and dynamic CR's by any chance?
That the better heat conductivity and thus cooler surfaces of AL heads reduce the tendency for pinging/detonation. He got rid of his pinging with AL heads despite going to higher CR and advancing timing too...higher CR and advanced timing tend to increase the tendency to detonate. What theory is proved ?
The edelbrocks and pro comps are less cc's resulting in higher cr witch will help pinging ?
It's all good !!That the better heat conductivity and thus cooler surfaces of AL heads reduce the tendency for pinging/detonation. He got rid of his pinging with AL heads despite going to higher CR and advancing timing too...higher CR and advanced timing tend to increase the tendency to detonate.
Oh wait, I see. When you say 'helps' you mean 'reduces'; I thought you meant 'increases'..... I was really confused LOL. The coffee has not kicked in yet!

Roger..... I forgot that the time for flame travel is shorter.I don't think I would discount a better combustion chamber shape rather that the material the head is made from.

I have pretty much the same thing on my 72 340 4speed Cuda. That's exactly what I did when the Edelbrock head was pretty new. My 360 was at zero deck with 2.02 J heads and a purple 292. I made the move to the Edelbrock heads. A very nice improvement for sure.
Same car here really.I have pretty much the same thing on my 72 340 4speed Cuda.
I'm not sure how to post YouTubeSame car here really.
'73/360/4spd-4.10's
The bottom end improved and the top end screamed. Then came the move from a Torker II to the RPM/AG. It got even better. Much more bottom end and about the same top end. Slightly better in its feel. The car ran smoother through the range.
I am running the 60779, regular heads/spring set up. The increased spring rate on the "775" head should be just fine, just check the head out and make sure the springs fall into the proper rates for your cam.
