Swapping from power steering in my 65 valiant. I believe any manual unit through 72 could work. Let you know if you have one you're willing to part with.
Thanks!
Patrick

The '67-72 units will work but the mounting ear holes are bigger. The '62-6 box has the small holes so it may fit better . I believe I have a good early box but I'll have to do some checking. If I have one in good shape, they run $100 plus the ride. Let me know if you'd like me to scare one up.
Thanks, Mark

Dan,

Mark,
Let me see if anything comes up a little cheaper otherwise i'll give you a shout. thanks

Here's a photo of the two (actually 3) versions of small pitman boxes. The early box '62-6 uses 7/16' mounting bolts where the '67-up boxes use 1/2"
You can see the corresponding differences in hole diameter. If you use the correct fasteners and tighten them properly, there shouldn't be an issue. I've seen some boxes that had been loose and sliding around for years that egg-shaped the holes. In that case (or if you just would like a tighter fit) I've drilled out the hole and installed a bushing to bring it back into tolerances. If you use the early box in a later car, you sometimes have to ream out the hole a little to get the bolts through. You can tell which one you have (if you don't have both for comparison) by the casting numbers in the housing. The early box number is cast behind the LH mounting ear and will be a 2267162 or 2267225 for a bushing type or bearing type respectively. The '67-up box has number 2537349 cast into it on the round section the pitman shaft passes through.
