Sad to see that car got wrecked, hopefully you can fix it!!
Is the motor and trans ok? The rest of the unibody?

yep dave, that's Patience (at least that's what we call her)!!! That's pretty incredible that you have pics of her. I live in Cincinnati, Ohio so right now isn't the greatest time of year to be working in an unheated garage, although it does give us time to work on our welding skills. Once it warms up we'll be hard at it. Also, yes, the engine and tranny are fine. I'll start posting some pictures once we make some progress.

The weather in cincy has finally broken. LET THE RESTO BEGIN!!!!!!! Pics will come.

It's MoPar or no car!!!!!!!

Best of luck on your project... It would be nice to see another 69 fastback in the area!

Well the old girl's looking more and more like a restoration and less like a wrecked car. Got all the chrome off, doors and front suspension. Got the tranny out and after we asked him (her) why he was passed out in the back seat I pulled the transmission to get ready to pull the engine. Everything is going well so far, but then again this is the easy part.

Hard to say for sure, but it appears the cowl and firewall are pretty straight. If so, that will make it much easier. Love the car, will look great done.

First of all I would like to send out a HUGE thanks to MOPARPARTS for the front clip. Not only is it in execellent condition but it came with all the extras we can use, at a good price too.View attachment DSC02735.jpg

still need to get the rear end and gas tank out and then start to think about were to start as far as repairs. We have a lot of parts but still need to get a few odds and ends. The scary part is about to begin. After getting the front clip on I think we'll start with the floors so we can hide our crappy weld job with the carpet...lol. We'll get a lot more practice that way also.

Well, as we make more headway I'll be sure to post more.

PM barracudakid if you are looking for cosmetic odds and ends and other parts for your 69. He may have some stuff squirreled away... Seeing your car makes me miss my A56...rare fish you have there! Good luck with the build!

Glad to see you making progress. Looking forward to seeing this car get put back together.

thanks, so far all we've done is the easy part....lol. I think the hardest part is going to be finding fenders...uuughhhh. I'm gonna take our broke %^&* ones to a local shop and see if they can repair them. It's one thing to attempt a quarter patch but quite another, in my opinion, to repair bent up fenders. We'll see. Even if the shop says 'no' I think I'm still gonna give it the ol' college try to get some expereience and see what happens. We'll be back at it tomorrow. What I really need to do is take a week off work and do nothing but body work practice.

Also, I could use some advice and/or resources for installing a new front clip. Thanks

Your pix of the donor front end and others are eerily similar. I replaced the front clip on my 69 A56. Exactly what you are doing except I got my donor piece with the T-bar crossmember intact. I did this OVER 10 years ago before I had a digital camera so I'll have to scan the pics I have. Probably not until next week.

My 69 is an original Northern OH car, fastback, T7, A56, 340, 4 spd, factory 3.91, bench seat, rallye dash and wood wheel, manual steering and drums. Original 45K miles but the front rails completely rusted through and EVERY panel on the car was dented/creased except the roof and deck lid when I got it. It also had taken a hit in the left front. Wish I could say the car is done but it ain't. After I got my 68 driver, the 69 went to the back burner. I'd start a resto thread but everyone would be asking about updates and that'll be awhile.

First things first....When a DA sander runs off a small, 25 year old Craftsman compressor you run the risk of catching the compressor on fire (yes, it caught FIRE)...

View attachment IMG_0110.jpg

The bright side, though, is it opens up room for a bigger, better compressor...

With the new comp I was able to actually sand down to some bare metal. I was starting to think I had a quarter made entirely of bondo. I also tried some chemical remover in a couple of spots to see how it's gonna work. I really got it for hard to reach places or places a sander can't realy get into..i.e drip rails.

Also got the rear valence off. Used a spot weld drill bit from harbor freight, it worke great. The super, duper space aged sealant they used was an entirely different story. The best way we found to get it off is with a freaking air chisel.

All in all things are going pretty good for a couple of rank ametures. We haven't started welding anything yet though....lol.

More in a few days. Next thing we're gonna do is cut the quarter and attempt to weld in a patch panel....BE sure to say the Shepards prayer for us,

'Lord, please don't let me F$%^ this up!!'

That'd be Alan Shepard, the first American in space, just before the launch of his spacecraft 'Freedom 7'.

just remember cut once and measure twice........ wait a minute scratch that measure twice then cut once. cant wait to see this cuda come back to life

What is this "measure" you speak of?

funny story....A few minutes ago I was perusing the net looking for other '69 'Cuda stuff. I ran across a blog site where a guy is restoring a 1969 Barracuda. He was going on about how his dad has 'had the boat since 1990' and he was finally going to restore it. I was thinking to myself, 'wow, this guy has no idea what he's got if he's refering to it as a boat.' He goes on to ask for advice on removing the 318 in it and how to replace the 'stringers.' I figure when he says 'stringers' he's refering to the frame rails. Other guys are giving him advice, they're talking about measuring and plumb bobbing and all that ****. Finally someone asks him for pics...he posts them....it is a boat....a real boat, as in watercraft. I had no idea there's a Barracuda boat. FML

I knew I had a propeller shaft but damn

Great boat story afb! But man, I was really hoping for some action pics of the flaming compressor.

On a more serious note, have you ever looked at a '68 build thread by a guy named Jeff Ramin? It's over the top and one of the best documented builds I've ever seen. It's almost like a FSM in pictures. Here's a link if you've never seen it.

Keep up the work and don't forget to have fun.
