Stop in for a cup of coffee

Looks almost like my grandfathers continential tire.

My roommate in college had a friend who worked for Goodyear supporting some local races. He got us a defect 33" wide racing slick mounted on a rim. We got a piece of glass cut and used it as a table in our dorm room with a Chevy center cap as an ashtray...

My first 'real' bike when I was a kid was a Schwinn Lemon Peeler. Back then, it was about as cool as you could get.

I had the red Schwinn 5 speed with the same size tires front and rear with the thumb shifter...

Rode that my younger years, then in high school sold it to my friend's younger brother for $50 to get the last of the money I needed to buy a new Varsity 10 speed....

First bike memories...my Dad built my bike himself from parts he gathered, and I got it for Christmas when I was five, he put it on the roof because "it was too big for Santa to get it down the chimney."

A few years later my friends were all getting the Sting-Ray style bikes. Somehow without me knowing, Dad took my bike to a neighbor's garage, painted it British Racing Green, put on chrome fenders, a banana seat, and high-rise handlebars. It was on the roof again for Christmas but I thought it was a brand-new bike. Till the neighbor's teenage son (cue Eddie Haskell-voice) tells me, "ya know, that's your OLD bike, your Dad just put new stuff on it in our garage." I called him a God-damned liar and told him to get out of our yard!

Sounds like a cool dad right there.

Thanks, he always was and still is. He came from nothing so all he knew was to do things himself. I'm glad you guys brought up bikes because when I go see him on Tuesday it will be a fun subject to talk about. If y'all want to hear a little more about how he got to be so cool in my eyes, let me know...guys like him don't come along much anymore.

First one in the coffee shop.....woohoo go rani.

Yay, finally Monday .....there is actually mail today and all business is open, back to normal life after the disturbance called the weekend.

I on the other hand, feel like Tim Conway on the Carol Burnett show when he played that slow stepping character... "old man"

I had to google that because I never heard of any of that .....is this what you are talking about ??

yep - some of the bits are better than others - but the "old man" is classic gold - find the ones where he gets everyone else laughing.. awesome stuff

I just woke up my dad to see if he ever heard of this show.

He said Carol Burnett was one of his favorites when he was young.

I wonder why he or anyone never told me about it.

that's funny - you woke him up to ask! - it's just not one of those things that comes up in conversation normally I guess - - now that you know.. dig into it - truly amazing stuff - better than I Love Lucy

Yea, he don't care if i wake him to ask stuff or talk ....he knows i get up early for no reason.

The only thing he gets mad with is if i run the compressor this early.....i tried that before but that is banned now.

So no compressor, or mowers before 5 a.m. but everything else seems to be cool
