I fail to see the point of a retro fit if you don't add all the fruit (engine mgmt, decent gearbox with highway ratios/OD), seems like 1/4 of step forward but that is just my personal view.

Most of the ones I see here in Aus dump that tech to fit a carb and a 727. An old holley and 3 gears after all that work. Must have sore feet from wearing those clown shoes.

If you say so. It works great for me but just like OP I am not a bracket racer or a number chaser. Make of that what you wish.

I have a COMP XE268 in a very similar engine but a 4 speed and I love it.

Where I used to work, we used to drill them oversize and fit a cut down old valve stem and tack them in. This was before these cars were so collectable, but it kept a lot of old beaters going at a moderate cost, plus if the tack weld was in the right spot, they didn't need repainting either.

Over here, there are a lot of parts coming up and a lot of cars coming out of the woodwork for sale. Interest rates are up, houses are becoming unobtainium for a lot of people and the belts are tightening, so the toys, spare parts, or unfinished jalopies are hitting the market.. Crack head covid...

Wonder how many you'd need to put in a container to ship over here (Australia) at a profit? Rebuilders sell for $1500AUD ($USD950 +) at the moment. Send me some A518s too, and we can go into business...

Thanks :) My Wife has a 7 seater, Isuzu Mu-X which is a great family truckster, I just need something with rear doors. Minivans are a thing here, not as common out bush where I am situated. My most modern personal car is an '86 Nissan Pathfinder WD21, (2 door) which has room for a baby seat...

That's a big change, We have our first due late march. I own 7 cars, and they are all 2-door vehicles. I'm daunted at the thought of going to a 4-door :lol:

I have an XE268 and find it a bit noisy, but I don't mind it.
