Spring Fling 36 Apr 20 & 21, 2024 Van Nuys CA -info & roll call

We drove down from Washington in my silver 67 Belvedere. Really enjoyed the show and bought a few things in the swap. We’ll run show with lots of great cars. Already planning for next year. We put about 3000 miles on the Belvedere so it now has 23,000 original miles on it.

    Steering ratio doubler advice.

@72bluNblu, My 66 Valiant wagon had a factory installed 16:1 steering box and 245/60/14 tires. It was very heavy but responsive driving down the road. It just wasn’t for me.

    Steering ratio doubler advice.

Have you driven your car with manual steering? A-bodies in my opinion don't need power steering. My go-to manual steering is the 20:1. It's one full turn faster than the 24:1 but not as "heavy" feeling as the 16:1. Electric power steering? Why? Are you planning to upgrade your electrical system...

    Tire clearance

15x7 is the wheel you want. A 255 is pretty big for an early A-body. You'll have to do some work to get it in the wheel well.

    Stacking aluminum lowering block?

I use 2" blocks to cut down because they're on the shelf locally.

    Stacking aluminum lowering block?

    Cut down a 2" block. That's what I usually do on early A-bodies to get 1 1/2".

Early A, 9”……if it was yours, take $ out of the equation, whats the best solution for brakes

Best bang for the buck (and engineering) is a 73-76 A-body style brake setup from Dr Diff.
