The blue wire is supposed to be battery voltage to the VR and to the alternator. So if you measure the blue wire anywhere along it's path it should be battery voltage, at the VR or at the field terminal on the alternator.
The green wire will have varing voltages on it as the VR determines how...
I was going to point that out, but dell beat me to it. I also was trying not to be a Dana downer!
I applaud your creativity,
The alternate method no wiring changes happen under the dash and only a new power wire gets run from the terminal on the OEM switch after the circuit breaker to the...
I'm assuming you are testing the 12v feed to the VR.
It should be battery voltage as that's the same wire the VR reads to determine how much load the alt needs to cover
As 67dsrt273 stated that might not be enough to cause the VR to work.
You can use clip leads from battery plus to the...
On a 383 NO AC, NO PS with factory single groove pulleys is the clearance between the wp and crank pulley almost nothing?
I have what I believe to be factory factory pulleys, they line up perfectly, they measure the same as the 440 source Alternator only crank and water pump diameters.
But...
On a side note ...
I'm gathering 383 parts to convert it from AC and PS to Alternator only.
I got the pulleys and bolted them on, I used the same crank pulley bolts as from the 4 groove pulley.
Got it all set and decided to crank the engine over.
It would not budge, it cranked before putting...
You have done a good deal of the testing.
Sounds like the alternator is functional
The green wire provides a variable ground to regulate the output of the alternator.
The blue wire should have battery voltage when the engine is running
Testing the green wire ...
You can check voltage...
I recently stumbled on a bit of info that said a floor shift 727 (perhaps 904 also) had to have a couple bosses on the tail housing to mount part of the floor shift linkage. (I can not find the info now )
Are these the bosses in question?
