Thanks for replying , The A500 & 999 have a wider front drum to accept up to 1.75" wide bands ' i think' .

Question, Can i use the 1.6" wide band on a regular 4 disc front clutch retainer.

Took me a while to figure out, but it's the logical explanation.

The first number is missing it seems, it should be '3' meaning it would've been behind a 70 model 318

Just a follow up . Replaced broken lever with a stronger billet one still 4.2 I used a method that I came across in Tom Hand's Torqueflite book , Quote "set band to 1/4 inch arm travel at servo while pan is off " un-quote . I used compressed air to activate the servo because VB wasn't on ...

OK that gives me some confidence , i guess atf is thicker than air . do you use the teflon in all areas.

I've always used iron seal rings in my trans builds , because the teflon ones didn't look right to me . But since the trans was in pieces , I did an experiment . With the front clutch mounted on the pump i did an air test of the clutch pack , first with the iron rings , then the teflon . Result...

Yes . Cope RMVB. I've heard of 2 turns before but not 1.5.

My KD Band adjustment procedure is 72 in-lbs , back of 2 1/4 . The broken lever is an A&A part , 4.2 ratio . Think i'll replace it with a billet one from TSR.

Any Idea what caused this to happen to my 904.
