    Gear ratios and driveability

Ordered my '70 Cuda 340 with 4-speed and 3.91 gears. Came with F 70 14 tires. Ran about 3,000 rpm at 60 mph. Cruised the roads in western Kansas for hours at 80 mph (4,000 rpm). Assuming you have the 340, it has an almost perfect bore to stroke ratio and can wind all day. It will not hurt...

How much do plan to have saved for retirement?

Retired at 59 with full pension. Included was a "bridge" that paid an additional 80% of the pension for five years after I retired and also paid what SS would have until age 62. Was making more money after I retired than before. Everything is paid for and my health is good. Getting a lot more...

    Credit scores

A few years ago I went to purchase something at Sears. The clerk said I would get 15% off if I signed up for their credit card. I was rejected . . . the reason no recent credit activity. I own two properties free and clear, make payments on nothing. Have a nice collection of vintage cars and...

    Cuda_Al's Copper 1967 Barracuda Fastback

Wow, excellent job on an outstanding Barracuda. My folks bought the same color fastback in the Spring of 1967. They ordered it and lucky for me it came in, in time for me to take it to my Junior Prom. The interior matched the exterior color . . . it looks like your's is the same combination...

    Remember your first Mopar ?

My first MoPar was also my first new car. In August of 1969 I ordered a brand new '70 'Cuda. 340 4-speed, 3.91 gear, Hemi Suspension, Dark Burnt Orange with Black interior. I was looking at close-out '69s and the small town dealer took me to a nearby garage and showed me a '70 Barracuda (they...

    Park Iights 65 Barracuda

Remembered to check today. There is a screw at the very bottom of the chrome trim around the park light lens. It may be easier to feel than see. Remove the screw and the chrome trim and lens will come off. Good luck.

    Park Iights 65 Barracuda

No need to pull the grill. I thought the same as you at first, but it is quite simple. Need to look at mine to remember how it came apart, will report back. Getting old is no fun.

    [WANTED] 1964 Barracuda windshield

When I was looking for one earlier this year, someone on this forum suggested Rock Auto. They had some, priced very fair with reasonable shipping. Quite pleased with the product and service.

    Anybody know about this car?

One of my present projects is a 1963 Devin C. It will be a lot of fun once it is done.

STOCK '66 Barracuda with 13" wheels - max size 14"?

On my '65 I put on 14x7 Chrome rally style wheels with 4.25 back space. Tires are 195-70 in front and 215-70 in the back. Passenger front wheel barely rubbed on the upper A arm in a couple of spots a couple of whacks with a hammer and a touch with the grinder and all was good.

How do I stop vapor lock?

True vapor lock usually comes from heat soak conditions. Hot day you run the car hard then stop for 20-45 minutes. You come back out car starts fine and you go about a block and the car stalls and won't restart. Fuel in the pump vaporizes from the heat soak so the pump won't pump fuel. It...

    Vin number location.

I am just learning MoPars, but have been into Corvairs for 40 years. They all have a VIN plate and a "hidden" partial VIN in the front wheel housing. In Kansas we need VIN checks for out of state cars and Bill-of-sale cars. Local DMV people pull out an old ratty book to look up the second VIN...

    [SOLD] 63-66 windshield 2dr Barracuda

The painter broke the windshield of my '65 Barracuda taking it out. It had a slight wiper scratch so I wanted to replace it anyway. My local glass company says it is an obsolete WS and their sources did not have any in stock. Argh. Found a used WS locally but it is slightly pitted and blessed...
