Any of you have any tricks for getting the shoes and shoe spring to stay together when installing them into the coupler body??? Thanks a lot

I am assuming in the car? You should take off the coupler body from the gearbox, install new parts then slide the completed steering shaft into place. Put in roll pin and done. It is splined so it only goes on one way.

Are you saying install the shoes and shoe spring in the coupler body? I don't think it will go over the steering shaft shoe pin. This is a Borgeson steering box with the Bergman coupler. Thanks for your time and response....

This one?

I'm switching to the Borgeson/ Bergman kit on my '65Dart GT. When I pulled my old coupler apart it had no spring clip in it.
Where does it go? Can find nothing in the FSM.
I can't press the pin out of the steering shaft using my 4" vise and a socket. Guess I'll have to press it out with a hydraulic press.
Also, where does the roll pin go?

See if this helps. Rebuilding a 1964 Plymouth Steering Coupler Also 1966 dodge dart steering shaft breakdown-Google search.
FYI....be sure to note the position of the coupler on the steering shaft and reinstall it the same way. You can reinstall the coupler two different ways on the shaft and if you choose the wrong alignment, the steering wheel will be upside down. The missing spline on the upper shaft at the steering wheel has to match the missing spline on the coupler.

Better not to use a vise to press out the shaft pin, they aren't meant for that and many vises get broken that way. You don't require a shop press, you can knock it out w/ a hammer, backed up by sockets, and a drift once it gets flush, but don't mushroom the end.

The new gasket retainer clips that come in the rebuild kits never fit right, and you can destroy the silicone gasket trying to secure it (how would I know?). Most people clean-up their old retainer and re-use it.
