72 Swinger, 572. Has Cherry Bomb Extremes (12') on it. Kind of annoying, when going down the road at 55-70 MPH. Love the great sound, but would like to talk to the passenger.
Suggestions?
Should I try baffles in the pipes? Or, install some resonators? Kind of resonator, would be great too.
Thanks for any feed back.

TALK LOUDER!!!
I have resonators - 3" round about 18" long - they work great! Kept the good rumble but really help when jumping on the go juice. I have these..

..which are loud enough that the inspection place I go to said no good (I think they have a higher Db rating than a cherry bomb)... I put the resonators on and good to go.

If you like the sounds of a straight through glasspack but also don't like crazy loud or crappy sound quality try the borla XR-1's. I have them on my car and they are perfect.

My Dakota is about due for new exhaust. Thanks to those posting good info.

I was debating taking the factory 2:1 system, splitting into two quiet mufflers (for flow) and then rejoining for a single exit.

You mean 2 into 1 back to 2 back into 1?

Sounds like a a lot of bs for little to no value

I used Magnaflow glass pack style mufflers (after the muffler) @ 2-1/2 pipe size that is maintained through the unit unlike some/most others that neck down in size/diameter.

I'll trade you my 367 with nice quiet 3in/3out,SuperTurbo Dynomaxers for your 571 and you can even keep those "annoying " Extremes,lol.......
Well actually, no, 571 is waaay too much for me. But the STs are rather nice on my combo. I do like the Warlock idea tho.... But on my 367 I think they would be a waste on account of I'd never open 'em up anyway. Now if they were automatic opening adjustable blow-off valves, with instant open/instant close..... Now that would be something.......

A big inch engine, makes big power, big fuel consumption,& big noise.... Those, not gonna get it...
A couple of questions: Are you trying to add,to an existing exhaust system? If so...: What do you actually have,at the moment...?

A large muffler case muffles sound better then a small one.
I'm using a pair of Walker Dynomax 17749 mufflers on my 500" and resonators behind the rear axle.
Toned it down quite nicely but still has a very noticable sound.

But you might not have the space for a large muffler in an A-body.

have you thot about a turbo (spiral ) insert in the size that will fit inside ur exhaust pipes? I used a pair of 3 1/2" bullet racing mufflers, w/ 3 1/2" spiral inserts pushed 1/2 way inside them , and tack welded. fairly loud , but not bad, and doesn`t have the cheap flowmaster sound .
