wait a sec.....You are running coil overs AND torsion bars? Did I miss something? I love the idea, and like to know how to do that. What are the attachment points? Is it the same as just going to a 1.03 torsion bar?

Thanks!

They are just coil over shocks. Also see post 5 in this thread above. Got the idea from an old timer at the local garage. They make a difference with the stock V8 torsion bars and I think they look cool too.

I can sort of understand doing something like this in the seventies or eighties when there wasn’t very many options for upgrading the woefully inadequate stock torsion bars. But there’s no reason to do it now.

Do it right, buy a set of 1.03” (or bigger!) torsion bars. You’ll actually know what your wheel rate will be, you can match your shocks to the wheel rate of your torsion bars, and you’re not putting additional loads on the shock mounting points.

That way you won’t have some goofy light truck spring-over-shock fighting with the stock torsion bars for control of your car. They’re a band aid for the trucks, and they’re a band aid and the wrong application for our cars. As for how much spring rate they add, who knows? Gabriel says their rear shocks can add as much as 500 lbs of “load capacity”. What that translates to in spring rate depends on what they actually mean by that. The fronts are supposed to be a constant rate, the rears are variable. But they’re just a band aid to keep your stock suspension from sagging. Even the trucks would be better off without them. If you need these things, what you actually need is new springs that match what you’re doing with your vehicle.
