Best Carter 4 Barrel Carburetor for a stock 273?

Whatever I have on the shelf. I sureaschit wouldn't buy a new one for that combo., especially if it is running 2.76 type rear gears. Instead, I would put a 2800 convertor in the Bellhouse, lol.

Time to start the build up

Well, laid down a couple coats of the summit battle ship gray single stage. I have to say I'm pretty pleased with the outcome. Flattened out pretty good once it was wet. Glossier than I expected (not a bad thing though) This ought to look pretty cool when it's done.

440 power gains/ aluminum head advantages?

The Isky feeler gauge method will give you a good idea if the cam is close or not. I used that method many times before I learned to degree. Fact is my dad taught me that method years ago when doing a cam swap.

    Wheel lug hack.

wish I could "agree" and "like" this one. A few months ago I had my lower bicep strain (must of been all that working n out and gettin "swoll") and that certainly makes you work on technique to get things done. (yes, that IS what she said)

Getting fed up of high-perf , being happy with less

Im housing a 68 firebird for a friend for a couple years while he goes abroad. 4 speed 400 and a little ratty. I get to work the bugs out while driving it. easy stuff. overheating or rattles. The barracuda is an 6 year project and who knows how that will drive, lord knows I haven't driven it...

Selecting power valve method Holley 4160

If the hesitation occurs as you are mashing the gas from idle, then, before you do anything, increase the rpm by 100, retime the accelerator pump as may be necessary, then see what happens. If this improves the situation, but the idle-rpm seems excessive, retard the idle timing, which is the...

Stop in for a cup of coffee

Bands can be adjusted with just dropping the pan. But replacement I think will require removing the unit and pulling the pump. But since it wasn't sudden, maybe its an adjustment. Also I'm not clear on whether 2nd and drive are working. It is a full manual VB if I understand correctly. TA...

Intake (heat shield) and metal gaskets?

Funny thing; you'd be surprised how few young kids nowadays know what clockwise and counterclockwise is. I have been watching some YouTube videos lately where a young kid (24ish) goes around on college campuses asking students BASIC questions like how many minutes in a quarter of an hour? (most...

    Wheel lug hack.

I use 1 of these wheel dolly's. I have a set of 4 since they are so helpful to move cars around. But I take just 1 and use it to lift/rotate the tire right into position and then shove it on. These wheels/tires are getting heavier!! Well ok, not really...I'm just getting weaker! Your...

Shocks: looking for Blistein quality at KYB price.

I absolutely agree with all of this. There are times when I won't buy the best <whatever>, because I just don't care about the thing that it does, or the degree of increased quality won't be perceptible in my particular application (Super-Duper ultra high voltage spark plug wires for a stock...

Getting fed up of high-perf , being happy with less

A joke I always make is when I was young I had all the time in the world but no money to work on my Dart. Almost 20 years later and I’m married with a kid and the same Dart. Now I don’t have the time OR the money to work on the Dart. I’d be tickled to death to be able just to drive it once a...

I like this discussion. Thanks for that! Ah. Fascinating. I had no idea such things existed. Your description makes them sound better than they would were they "just" stock Bilsteins. This is exactly the information I was looking for. Thank you. And... This could apply to me. Sort of...

Holley Gen 3 Hemi Swap Sale

Here is a u tube video of comperaing different cams and intakes on a 5.7 hemi. I don't remember how much. But I think the 6.4 intake lost HP/ Torque compared to the 5.7 intake. Which I couldn't beleave. I figured the 6.4 would of made more torque.

And even if it was a 68 or newer, the numbers on the engine and transmission either match or they don't. You can find and buy distributors, carbs, manifolds, etc. with the right part numbers and dates, but the numbers on the engine and transmission either match or they don't.
