    Rear wheel

I'm betting you mean backspace, not offset. 4 1/2" of offset would mean nine inches of wheel to the inside, or the outside, depending on + or -. Oops.. maybe you meant 4.5 mm of offset (less than a quarter inch)

    Tire fitment 68 Dart

Not enough backspace (are your new wheels original centerline autodrags?). 215/65x15 same height as a 225/60, almost an inch narrower. (There were, at one time,15x5 or 5.5 auto drags. I haven't seen a pair, other than mine, in years)

    Tire fitment 68 Dart

I don't know, not a dart owner. But, unless you are building a handling first car, I tend to be conservative on front tires. 215/65 might be too tall, 235/60 too wide (for the car, not the rims.) Why not split the difference? 225/60x15? And to tell the truth, I'd rather see a 3 3/4 or 4" bs

Identifying my Current 15 Inch Wheels - and thoughts about wheel replacements

Okay, got to it this morning. (All following are 5 on 4.5) 15x7 polished TT2 VN501 (Old style, 501 is now a different wheel, if I remember right) 3 3/4 bs 16x8 polished TT2 VN515 4 7/8 bs (with a 10x16 slick, fits beautifully on my 62 savoy) Following are all 70s vintage wheels, with typical...

Identifying my Current 15 Inch Wheels - and thoughts about wheel replacements

My mistake. I just assumed you still had the small pattern. With 5 on 4.5, you probably have a thousand choices. But you are still mixing up backspace and offset (post #28) But 4"backspace, or -6mm offset (if that offset moves most of the wheel toward the inside) should work good on a 15x7...

    Nv3500 vs ax15

Identifying my Current 15 Inch Wheels - and thoughts about wheel replacements

They obviously did at one point. I don't think they have made 5 on 4 for a couple decades. Best way i know of to see whats availabe in 5 on 4 (except for team III/ E-T mags) is plug in 5 on 4 bolt circle to summits wheel section and see what comes up (not much, and all 15" except for the...

Blue pill or red pill = 675 or 920

All the work you are planning for the 920s in post #8, is a LOT more than I would put into (almost) any iron head. 675s ready to go, bolt em on and fly it. (How much horsepower better do you think the 920s will be? 20? 30? Think that will be necessary for a 318? Price the machine work you are...

    How much dyno corrected HP?

Mine ran almost those exact numbers with 500 crank hp. But it was 1200 lbs lighter, at the starting line. So, if you are a third heavier, a third more power . My guess:750 + crank.

Identifying my Current 15 Inch Wheels - and thoughts about wheel replacements

I have a pair of 5 on 4 centerlines (NOT for sale!) that have 38mm of offset.. Can you tell from that if they will fit? (Answer: without lots more info, no). But if I tell you the backspace , in inches, I bet you can tell......

Identifying my Current 15 Inch Wheels - and thoughts about wheel replacements

Agreed, IF the o.p. converts to 4.5 bolt pattern. I believe he is still 5 on 4. The only torque thrust style 5 on 4 I know of are team III custom order (around $500 a wheel) and Boyd's 17x7 and 17x8.

73 duster front tire suggestions needed

You can go narrower, but not much taller depending on the rim width. And skinnies are basically a preference, for looks, or low rolling resistance on a drag car. Frankly, not a great idea on a car that might need a panic stop on the street. If the 235s don't rub anywhere, I'd keep em (and 235s...

    Wheel Adapters

I am a fan of spacers, their use doesn't bother me a bit. I DONT care for the adapters idea, I doubt I would do it. But, if you must........ Spend the money for the billet ones 100%. NO CAST GARBAGE!!!

    383 Piston slap

4032 shouldn't do that, unless they are installed too loose. If those Diamonds are 2618, that's expected, and normal, and nothing to worry about. A friend and i ran a 440 in a Duster with CAST pistons at .008 (supposed to be around .001-2) and the piston slap was noticeable, and didn't go away...

What kind of fuel do you run?

Unless you plan to run that car 10k/yr for about a decade, I don't think a lack of lead should be a concern. I'd be more worried about the alcohol content wrecking the rubber in the fuel system.

Builders: Square engine, Over Square, or Under Square for you?

I have NOT read four pages of this thread. , so I don't know if this is for a n/a or power adder application. But my answer for post #1... I'd build a aftermarket iron block 400 small block chevy with sb2.2 heads. Or, a stroker crank to make 400 inches out of a Nascar dodge (R5,P7 ?) And then...

What kind of fuel do you run?

Pump diesel for the diesels. California 91 10%alky cat piss for the late model pony car (best available out of the pump, short of $12 100 unleaded race gas.) Pump 91, plus a few gallons of 100LL avgas, (cause I have access now) in my iron head 10.5 to one 440. The 100 avgas in Arizona is...

Identifying my Current 15 Inch Wheels - and thoughts about wheel replacements

No offense meant, but again, your terminology is wrong. You're talking about BACKSPACE, not offset. 4 1/2 inches of "offset" would put it against the leaf spring, or if the other way, sticking out the fender two inches. A + or - offset of 25 (mm!) would be about one inch. 4 1/2 inches of...

Identifying my Current 15 Inch Wheels - and thoughts about wheel replacements

You asked for a thought , here's mine. Backspace and offset are ENTIRELY different things, tho related. Youd best keep your terms straight. I can't be bothered to remember which way is + or - offset, so I don't try. And "offset" needs to be calculated, backspace can be measured. Tell me a...

I do NOT know for sure, but...... They look like Rocket, but I'm pretty sure Rocket doesn't make any 5 on 4 wheels. I suspect they might be Team III/E-T mags, tho I think they would have markings. Have you pulled the wheels off, and looked at the inside for a logo? (That looks like the typical...

    360 vs 383

Exactly: I WOULD swap in a 500+ inch big block into an A-body. (with as much aluminum and lightweight parts as possible. ) I would NOT bother swapping in a 383, when a 360 (or 390 stroked 318, or a 408) fits so much better If I'm not getting 100 more cubes from the big block swap over a small...

    US Mag Indy wheel question

The trick will be finding the, right spline size, with longer threads. I think there have been several threads and stickys about longer studs, both here and b-bodies. Search time. And I think Dorman has listings of the dimensions of their studs on their website. Edit: it makes a difference if you...
