This is still confusing Can someone please post pictures of their 68 or 69 dart bench seat retractable seat belt unit, I can’t find any pictures on the internet showing what they look like.

I’m the person that started this question asking for information and I am 99% sure that my dart has the original equipment in it mounted on the floor, it just seems like a very bad design to begin with.

Is this common with all 69 Darts. My retractable unit between the bench seat and the doors (both sides) get wedged between the seat and the door and scratch and scrape the paint off the bottom of the door on both doors, it is so tight that I can’t even move it once I close the door. What can...

I will try to save them if they are original, clean them up and weld them to the new tailpipes when I get them made.

I am certain the portion of the exhaust system up to the muffler is 2-1/2” diameter but I never measured the tailpipe, I guess I better measure the diameter of the tailpipe just to make sure.

Hard to imagine that they would be original because the inlet would have been 1-5/8” or 1-7/8”diameter and these are welded to 2-1/2”diameter pipes, but I guess anything is possible. Thanks for your help

Can someone tell me if these tips look like they are original 69 A body tips, I can’t tell for certain? I just removed them from my car because I am going to replace the tail pipes. Thanks

Thanks for your input, I just ordered a 44 tooth gear that should be sufficient. If it is too much then I’ll have to get the 43 tooth.

So I did some testing today and it doesn’t seem like the speedometer is wrong. Using a Photo Cell RPM meter and an old sears 1000rpm drill that actually runs at 1060 rpm (+10%) tested with the rpm meter. I disconnected the Speedo cable from the transmission and hooked into the drill and ran it...

Thanks I will be adjusting it this weekend. Is there any way I can hold the KD Lever on the trans to the engage position so I can get up from the floor and adjust the vertical rod, knowing that it is fully engaged. I am alone as a one person working on this, I am wondering if it takes 2 people...

Thanks , that’s what my concern was, the back and forth slop on the shaft. That slop takes up some of the vertical movement of the shaft #10 that I need to adjust. I will be under the car this weekend to make sure the KD Lever is turned out to the stop when I adjust the vertical rod.

I got a ticket for 43 in a 40 once so I need it to be a little more accurate. Unfortunately living where I live I would need a clipboard and a sheet of paper with different rpm/mph on it for all the different speeds.

Great idea, this could rule out the Cable if it is bad or not. But on the other hand, if the end was rounded and slipping then the speed on the dash would be slower and not faster than the Radar posted speed wouldn’t it?
