Wow I think you are right, they may be swapped side to side by the previous owner. Thanks for noticing that.

69 Dart retractable seat belt location issue!

I’m the person that started this question asking for information and I am 99% sure that my dart has the original equipment in it mounted on the floor, it just seems like a very bad design to begin with.

69 Dart retractable seat belt location issue!

Is this common with all 69 Darts. My retractable unit between the bench seat and the doors (both sides) get wedged between the seat and the door and scratch and scrape the paint off the bottom of the door on both doors, it is so tight that I can’t even move it once I close the door. What can...

    Identify 69 Dart Exhaust Tips

I am certain the portion of the exhaust system up to the muffler is 2-1/2” diameter but I never measured the tailpipe, I guess I better measure the diameter of the tailpipe just to make sure.

    Identify 69 Dart Exhaust Tips

Hard to imagine that they would be original because the inlet would have been 1-5/8” or 1-7/8”diameter and these are welded to 2-1/2”diameter pipes, but I guess anything is possible. Thanks for your help

Speedometer is driving me crazy- Something is Wrong

Thanks for your input, I just ordered a 44 tooth gear that should be sufficient. If it is too much then I’ll have to get the 43 tooth.

Speedometer is driving me crazy- Something is Wrong

So I did some testing today and it doesn’t seem like the speedometer is wrong. Using a Photo Cell RPM meter and an old sears 1000rpm drill that actually runs at 1060 rpm (+10%) tested with the rpm meter. I disconnected the Speedo cable from the transmission and hooked into the drill and ran it...

How much play in this pivot point is normal

Thanks I will be adjusting it this weekend. Is there any way I can hold the KD Lever on the trans to the engage position so I can get up from the floor and adjust the vertical rod, knowing that it is fully engaged. I am alone as a one person working on this, I am wondering if it takes 2 people...

How much play in this pivot point is normal

Thanks , that’s what my concern was, the back and forth slop on the shaft. That slop takes up some of the vertical movement of the shaft #10 that I need to adjust. I will be under the car this weekend to make sure the KD Lever is turned out to the stop when I adjust the vertical rod.

How much play in this pivot point is normal

While adjusting the kick down linkage I noticed something that has me concerned if it is normal or not. While moving the vertical rod #10 (red arrow) up or down I am looking down at the pivot point (red circle) and I notice the there is a movement of at least 1/4” back and forth sliding on the...

Speedometer is driving me crazy- Something is Wrong

I got a ticket for 43 in a 40 once so I need it to be a little more accurate. Unfortunately living where I live I would need a clipboard and a sheet of paper with different rpm/mph on it for all the different speeds.

    215/70x14 = Tires are 25.9” so I calculated 26 inches

Speedometer is driving me crazy- Something is Wrong

Great idea, this could rule out the Cable if it is bad or not. But on the other hand, if the end was rounded and slipping then the speed on the dash would be slower and not faster than the Radar posted speed wouldn’t it?

Speedometer is driving me crazy- Something is Wrong

I am driving myself crazy trying to figure out what is wrong and I just can’t. I purchased a 69 Swinger 340 auto trans a while ago with many small issues that needed to be addressed. One of the issues is the speedometer is way off, 12-13 mph off. I know the gears have been changed but I don’t...
