For least flow resistance, back pressure and performance, glass packs are the way to go. These days there are some good glass packs like the Ultra Flos that are no louder than Flowmaster 40s etc.

Anything 30 years and older here in NC needs no inspection, period. Emission or otherwise. In fact most counties don't do emmission tests on anything and those that do are only on cars newer than 1996 I think.

There is a red MSD bushing that provides 28 degrees of advance??? The largest bushing I was aware of is the black one that gives around 18-20 degrees? Have you checked your timing at 3200 rpm to see what you have with it all in?

80 psi on start up is not bad, in fact most pressure regulators set at 80 to default. Where does it go once warmed up and with rpms? If your regulator keeps it capped at 80 regardless of rpm that's not bad. Are you running any type of oil flow restrictors?

If you have 34 degrees at idle and at 3500rpm then something is wrong. Either you don't have springs on the distributor cams or they are froze open? Also, idle speed is very much dependent on what cam you are running. High lift / duration cams are not going to idle at low rpm. I can't get mine...
