Just building a mild 318 engine to replace the 273 in my 65 Valiant Signet(111 wheel base). I want to keep it stock looking for sure using valve covers and exhaust manifolds
Hi Mike
I think it was you that I purchased a LD4B manifold. I was going to put it on my 273. I have changed my mind and have bought a 318. Now i would like a pair of 302 heads. Do you have any or know of any for sale?
Thanks Dave
I have managed to get an LD4B intake. Right now I'm using a 500 cfm Edelbrock. Do you think that's enough carb? Seems like a lot of people are using 600's. Haven't been able to try any engine work as It's getting some paint.
Does anyone have pictures of the 4 sp shiftplate. I'm not sure of the real home for this part. Its on the floor in front of the shifter. I've seen it in pictures but never in a car,
Thanks Dave
Ahhh!
If it's like my 67 GTX column shift auto, then there is an approximately 1/4 " pin coming off the steering column that rotates when you shift. Its a plastic insert that always breaks off. I tapped the hole and threaded in a steel pin that works perfectly. I think I have pics if that's the...
Just reliving my childhood. I factory ordered a 1966 Valiant Signet HiPo 4sp . Loved that car and only drove it for 18 months. Looked for another for decades and finally settled on the 65. I love driving this one as well.
62 Valiant v 100, 2 Dr post
Lowest model, lowest power(170 cu in), 3 on the tree, lowest production, lowest price, lightest valiant made. Its made in Canada with a stock generator. A survivor with a coat of paint.
Thanks for the pics. Your dash is beautiful. Nice job!
When I bought the Dart, I thought the AC unit was an after market bolt on. I saw the same unit on a 68 ? Barracuda and the owner told me it was original. He showed me the original AC sticker on 1 of the windows. So obviouly the same unit...
I'm restoring a 65 Valiant Signet. I bought a 65 Dodge Dart out of California for a donor car. It has stock AC and I'm wondering if the parts are worth saving. Are these AC systems rare? Someone had removed the compressor but I have all the other pieces.
Thanks for the info. As I'm not a mechanic the conversation is a little over my head. I've had my engine on a dyno and it confirmed what I already knew. Torque was all in the low end and hp dropped off quickly after 4000 rpm.
The engine came out of a 66 Barracuda. The owner is a professional engine builder with a lot of racing experience. He's the one that recommended the LD4B so I'm thinking it should fit. Currently it's running an Edelbrock 500cfm carb on a cast iron intake.
I am looking for an Edlebrock LD4B for my 273. It's a 66 2bbl "hipo-ized" with a cam and cast iron 4 bbl manifold. 4 sp. Does anyone have an LD4B for sale? Do you think it would make much of a difference?
