One this to be wary of changing out a cam in a 40+ year old powerplant is this. You build the top you'll blow the bottom, build the bottom you blow the top. Bigger carb no problem.
What are you running now? Stock 2 barrel? Will need new intake ,try and find a LDB4 edelbrock nice piece. If stil...
After much debate with my pocketbook and the fact that yes the bottom end won't match the new top end. Build is on hold...I will however be upgrading to headers and replacing current non crossed dual exhaust.
Anybody running a CMEngine as seen advertised in Mopar Muscle? Thinking for price a...
Down the line that will be an upgrade. Previous owner rebuilt the 3 speed not too long ago. Going to do sway control and suspension after upgrading engine. Cam heads timing all original. Even with only 80k on it it is still 40.
Ok so heres the thought...318
I have edelbrock 4 bbl manifold. Holley SA570 4 bbl carb. 904 3 speed 8.25 rr with 3.21 gear.

I'll second this, as even in my Org 318 Engine and only add on I know of is a Street avenger 4bbl and intake, I can vary from 12 to 16mpg pending on the foot.:burnout:
How can I tell what the original cam is, or should be? In my 73 318 Dodge Dart Swinger 904 3 speed.
I have build sheet of the car, not in front of me, as I am at work, and looking to find out, for curiosity sake.
Thanks guys!
Have '73 Swinger 318 904 3 speed 8.25 rear end. Holley Street Avenger 4bbl carb.
In the next few months I am looking at an upgrade. Starting with stock heads cleaned and rebuilt and adding headers. Not looking to blow the doors of things out the gate, but a hwy cruiser. What parts would you...
Good News! I guess since I didn't care about any of the others cars I have driven in the past...I never noticed, or checked to oil as often as I do with Root Beer. I have been notified, that I swiped the condensation off the side of the dipstick tube. Change in the weather etc causing. Valve...
Its my dd. I've replaced all the leaking gaskets and put in a new radiator. As stated I hoping its just the fact that before me it wasn't being driven. Oil filter changed when everything else was done. I am down to one arm due to rotator cuff. So I am useless. Shop has it they will run tests...
Been a good car owner, and only owning the car for less than 5k miles. I have been checking oil every 500 miles. Today...milk on the stick. I am hopeful it is only a gasket on a 40 year old 318 with 80k miles. Pray for Root Beer, she needs kind thoughts right now.
