    From what I'm reading, when it gets right down to it the 273 performers The "best"running the basics............. 3 C's Cam carb and compression As long as I got the 4bbl pistons a a small chamber head(with a littlie work done) And a mech cam under .530 all shound good?

    Many thanks for your opinion and input. I got those heads and that manifold on the shelf"didn't think they were Worth a **** really." I'm not sure how many miles are on this engine and I need to see How much taper is in the bores .hence the not liking the .060. Overbore This engine is my work...

    The reason why I ask is , I have. Sets of 974s ,051s even 302s and the 920s I am trying to get the most "bang for buck" with my 273. I know the chambers are larger on all of these heads compared to the 920s I can cheat some of the cc's with A thinner head gasket using one of the other...

    273 starts hard when hot

    Maybe some one asked already. Do you have headers? Is the starter getting "hot". Maybe need a heat sheild for the starter. That is what comes to my mind

    I might be wrong but don't the 273 pistons come out .020? With the 302. Head wouldn't that cause a issue?

    Seen it. But a duration of 284 at .050 seems not to sound right, with only a Over lap of 60 degrees and 112 lop seperation . I adimit I know enough to get me In trouble but it don't seem right to me at all

    Was a 2bbl but the slugs have 4 valve notches. I believe they stick out .0129

    I have a 68 dart 270 as far as I could tell this engine has never been opened Up. How far out of the cylinders do the pistons stick out.... Btw 2bbl 273 automatic. I was of the thought that they were down in the hole Insted of out . Thoughts?

    I called Camcraft. Very nice people but they are not the same Camcraft from the 60 They started in the mid 80. 40 plus years have past,,, Looks like I am going to wing it ...lol
