Gremlins never came with 360 so hard to say on the stock hp. Unless it's out of an early '70s muscle car, it's gonna be a mild smog engine. What makes AMC 360 and 401 great is the cylinder heads and tough bottom ends - you can make great hp with the right parts thrown at it.

You order a converter for a mid plate, they put thicker mounting tabs on it depending on your plate thickness.

Mid plates are meant to tie into a full cage. For yours you could bend a tube that comes off the frame rails and holds the mid plate.

Just bag them and tuck away, you or someone else might need it.

Keep them, put street radials on for when you drive it around town.

An inch on each side isn't enough? Plenty of cars have that or a little less and never rub. Is this friend a drag racer, or circle track?
