1966 A904 loses all gears overnight

Leave in neutral for a little, sounds like drain back. My 727 does this, but usually after sitting for several days.

    2.94:1 gears

My buddy took out a 3.23 chunk and put in a 2.94 chunk. Behind a fresh 340, 727, 26" rear tires. He absolutely loves it, great cruising RPM and he still comes out of the hole just fine .....

    Which gear ratio?

I vote 3.23 if you'll be doing a decent amount of Hwy driving. My 340 dart with 255/60r15 has 3.55's, 383 coronet with 275/60r15 has 3.23's .... the coronet "cruises" much better, and still lights the tires up ....

Run as much gear as you want, unless you plan on doing some Hwy driving !

4 speed or 4 speed OD?

I have a complete OD unit sitting in my shed, been wanting to put it in my swinger. I really think I would appreciate it much more on those long trips I take !

    Aftermarket Valvebodies

Well we know 727/904 is old technology, but works well ! Shift speed is much faster with a Griner and shifts are way more positive. I took the advise of my machine shop buddy a few years back and switched over, I would have never believed the difference myself until I drove it. The first time I...

    Aftermarket Valvebodies

Because cheetah is old technology! Griner is the ****! I made the switch and never looked back, difference is instantly noticed.

Safely cruising speed with a 318/727 combo

I try and keep my RPM's right at 3K when cruising on the hwy. Even though it seems to be way slower then traffic at 65 mph ! 340 / 4spd, 3.55 , 255/60r15 rear tires ... So far no issues, I've crusied at 4K for short periods, very loud !

    Ratchet shift 727 ?

Check out Griner valve bodies.. The best on the market I think, replaced my cheetah with one and never looked back. As far as neutral goes, with the Griner you can go PRN123N ....

    Boom goes the......

DITTO !!! I learned the hard way about this one. Tore the sprag and drum up in my Coronet. After a quality rebuild with quality parts, and of course 2nd gear burnouts ..... trans worked flawlessly !

    Poll-which rear end?

it all comes down to how much "cruising" you want to do. My buddy has a 340/ 4spd car with 3.91's and the car a fast as hell but not the greatest for hwy driving... I wanted 3.91's initially, but after the first couple of long distance drives I really enjoy the 3.55's now ! Good off the line and...

    Poll-which rear end?

My 340 / 4spd, 484 lift cam runs great with 3.55 gear. I also do a LOT of street and highway driving, sometimes for pretty long distances too.

    a727 lines

I ran braided hoses with -AN fitting from aux cooler to 727 on my '65 coronet. Very easy, looked good. If i remember it cost me around $160 for everything.

    Manual valve body

Look up the griner valve body. Puts the old cheetah technology to shame ! I took the cheetah out of my coronet and put a griner unit in, what a big difference !!
