Yeah, well don't cut the dash to put in an aftermarket radio. You probably already know that. Uncut '72 radio bezels are hard to come by. Mine's cut but doesn't bother me that much. But if the radio wasn't already installed there, I'd definitely be installing a different radio in a different...

I got mine from Dante's. Year One sells them, probably at a higher price, and other places also. I've seen some made from black tag board, but in that case, having an original as a template would be helpful.

You can't ever trust those dropdowns to get what was correct for a car... gotta know what you need, not what they say you need. Unreliable.

Yeah, I get it, that makes sense now. Time is often at a premium around my house too. I just sold my spare a-body 8.75 about 6 months ago, so I can't help. In case you don't know, the hot tip for a cheaper 8.75 in a duster/dart sport is a 67-70 b-body rear. Can fit even better. Search for...

What's "not doing it right" about an 8.8? It's not like you're restoring the car to factory. Sounds like you are looking for functional, affordable, and practical, right? There's more than one way to "do it right" besides a factory 8.75.

I can vouch for the eraser wheel method too. I used to restore bikes a lot, and it takes the decals off more easily than anything else I ever tried.

Would it fit on a 340 lid? I'm not sure how different the tops are. I could dig out a 340 and 318 one to check, but it would involve some shed and closet digging.

When I asked the O'Reilly by me if they turn drums, the guy's response was "No one would bother turning a drum anymore, it's just not done." He was a young kid, not sure he even really knew what a brake drum was. I didn't even pursue anything with O'Reilly after that.

I'm not sure what you mean. I thought you no longer had the /6 engine wiring harness? So that's already dismantled, right? All you're talking about is a replacement engine wiring harness and what to get. The other stuff is separate. Or do you mean you're going to get this wiring harness for now...

Yes. Everyone starts from the same place. a 225, 318, 440, your 452 all make spark the same way if you're using factory Mopar style electronic ignition. If you do something different, you have to just modify it to work from that starting point just like everyone else. You will want the WITH...

Yes. You could have used the /6 one, but if you don't have it anymore, just get a V8 one and plug it in.

Are you sure your wife isn't cool with you building it for her? Did you ask her? It sounds like she was cool with it at first, then she made a facebook post just in fun, and maybe you took it too seriously? That sounds like something my wife would say to have fun with her friends, then say nice...

    1968 Dodge dart 318 5.2 restore

Here is a post from an older thread that I saved in my notes from krazykuda, hope he doesn't mind. I thought it was most helpful for rebuilding the '68 rear drum brakes: "REAR BRAKES REBUILD INFO (from krazykuda on FABO): I tell the parts store to look up a 72 Duster 340 or 318 car with 10"...

    sweptline budget buildHi all

I just meant to find a running 318, not build one, since the goal was I thought to get this back on the road as easily and cheaply as possible. Either way, building one now or later would be cool too of course. Running 318's are usually pretty darn easy to find cheap.

    sweptline budget buildHi all

Yeah, reflectors (I just said "side marker lights" to specify the reflectors I was talking about after saying reflectors... should have left off the "lights"... habit!). I just did some extensive looking around for info, and it looks like some '68's (trucks) had the side reflectors and some...
