I'm using that cable also. A little pricey but when you don't have all the components of the original rods, this is a great alternative.

I did install a drain plug in the stamped pan... After this leak, I really didn't need any more practice on pan removal. I don't regret this purchase and am happy to say, as of this morning, it is still dry under there. (fingers crossed) Now, if it will stop raining, I can take it for a ride...

Was chasing a nasty transmission leak. Replace the stamped pan for this beauty. So far, Knock on wood, it is dry under the car!!

So, I would have to shift the gear change all the time with this set up?? Having the Anti-drain back is appealing as one of my shift cables leak due to this.

Any particular brand and reputable vendor? mind you, it's a 65 transmission... seems like everything I see is 66 and up :rolleyes:

Are they worth it?? While my transmission pan is down, should I install one? 340 auto (obviously) 3:23 rear geared. Engine is near stock (purple cam, whatever that spec is). Plan is to upgrade the heads when funds are available. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

To clear things up, this is already done. The engine and transmission are together, running and driving. What led me to ask questions are that the shifter cable(s) are leaking (we believe) and before I sink any money into this transmission (new cables, etc.), I want to know if I'm dumping money...

Agreed!! These things don't run on magic. there are many YouTube videos to watch and learn from and there are plenty of knowledgeable folks on here to help everyone along. I'm not knocking the OP here. I'm glad no one was injured from the shop's carelessness!!!

I'll be doing this same thing next spring..... I believe that the engine may have to move a bit to get the bell housing off the engine, due to the tight engine compartment (firewall) and trying to slide the bellhousing off the engine with the clutch in the way.... I don't think that there is...
