    A body book?

My son and I were discussing our Duster restorations after watching the latest GYC episode the other night, and he was lamenting the fact that Mark seems to mainly concentrate on E and B body cars, but very few A bodies (by his own explanation, they aren't worth restoring due to resale value)...

    Is Classic Industries Open? Closed?

Bought stuff from them last month. Quick processing, fast shipping. Their call waiting is a joke, though. Over an hour last time.

    Classic Hemi Stolen

What the hell is wrong with people? If you want a hemi go buy one, instead of stealing it from the rightful owner who worked hard to buy it for himself. People like this have no business sharing the same air we breathe. I despise thieves in the worst way. I hope your friend gets his motor back...

Pretty sure mine has the rear ones. I'll crawl under this weekend and confirm as it's up on jack stands with bare underside.

Trying to finally get my first Muscle Car - I’m nervous

A few more thoughts...Watch a few reruns of "Graveyard Carz". Mark can be a piece of work at times, but you get to see the nuts and bolts of what it takes to rip one of these Mopars down to the studs (A-bodies are quite similar to the E-bodies he loves) and it will give you an idea of how simple...

Trying to finally get my first Muscle Car - I’m nervous

You've been given some great advice so far. A little more advice, if I may... If you don't intend to at least attempt to learn to tinker with this thing, go buy a new or lightly used Chally. You will be much happier in the end and it will serve your purposes. Older A bodies take TLC and if you...

    Kinda hokey...

One reason is I'm dealing with a vintage car that will be 50 years old next year. First, buying things like "brake hardware installation kits" with multiple pieces can be a nightmare...the last time I bought rear drum brake parts for my Dakota 2X4, I had to go back 3 times to get the right parts...

I honestly can't say. I didn't notice it until I got my order confirmation email message with a copy of the invoice attached. Next time I order I will be paying attention.

    Kinda hokey...

Just placed my first Classic Industries order. I was rather pleased with myself that I was able to take advantage of the Free Shipping ($99.00+) feature as shipping was nearly $20.00 without it. But not really happy to see a $3.95 "insurance fee" got tacked on to the bottom line of the invoice...

Applying Rust Killer to under carriage /frame any reason not to ?

No. Rustoleum is tough as nails yet easy to touch up if needed. Undercoating is a ***** to get off.

Applying Rust Killer to under carriage /frame any reason not to ?

I used the spray and it worked fine, as long as the metal is as clean as you can get it with a wire wheel, etc.

Don't have the original motor. Building a '72 motor with 10:1's and a forged crank over the winter.

    'Splain this to me, Lucy.

OK, just got done decoding my '72 Duster 340 fender ID tag. Everything matches from what I can see, except one thing...the bottom row, far left set of digits is "E55", which decodes as "340 cid, 4 barrel V8 275 HP" Now, I was always under the impression that the '72 motors were 8.5:1...

    Car ID

Only question left unanswered is...how many survived? Probably no way to determine that answer. As a matter of fact, I did a VIN search on my car yesterday. Apparently it does not exist. It's been off the road for nearly 40 years.

    Car ID

Thanks for all this great info! And in no way does it reflect how many of those vehicles are 6 feet under now. My guess is there would be very few survivors in GA4.

Applying Rust Killer to under carriage /frame any reason not to ?

    1) Remove rust and scale. I used a scraper followed by a wire wheel. 2) Rustoleum Rust Reformer after a wipe down with isopropyl 3) Brush on Rustoleum of the color of your choice. Sets up hard as epoxy in a few days. I recommend several coats.

    Car ID

How would one go about finding how many cars were produced in a particular model/configuration for any given year? I have the VIN, fender tag, and (somewhat legible and partially complete) build sheet. Since it's a factory '72 340 4 speed in a fairly unusual color (Winchester Gray/Gunmetal), I'm...

    Finding engine numbers info

Ok, found the pad above the oil pan. Weird stuff here. If you look at the second digit it almost looks as if a 3 was stamped over a 5. The last two digits are double stamps. So hard to tell what it is. What you guys think? (tap on photo to expand)

Can anyone tell me what the factory stock tire size and ratings were for a '72 Duster 340 (VS29)? With the Rallye wheels.
