How many using an A500 overdrive ?

When I installed the A-500 in my Duster I used a 727 slip yoke. It is my understanding the A-500 and the A-518 both use that same 727 slip yoke. I have no first hand knowledge of the A-518. Cley

    Beefing up A500 overdrive

Not sure about anyone else but my A-500, 3.91, 28" tall tire behind my 318 seems about perfect! Cley.

    Beefing up A500 overdrive

In your case, 250hp 318 poly, the stock A500/42rh will work very well. Remember, they were designed for a truck weighing much more than your car. I have a slightly warmed up 318, probably about 250hp with a stock rebuild A500 (1990 V8 truck trans) and 3.91 gears. I love the combo. Been driving...

What Shift kit you recommend for A518/46RH

I believe they use the same kit as a 727. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Cley

Overdrive or don't worry about it? !

My favorite part of having an OD trans is the fact that it's so much quieter on the 70mph highway cruise. I still run my 4.10 gear but it is a sweetheart on the highway as well. If you have the funds, a GV would be great. I have an A500 and it fits my needs too. Cley

    Can anyone identify this suregrip?

According to Cass at Dr Diff I have a 3 series powerlock that will work with 3.23 to 4.30 gears! That's perfect! I have 4.10s in the truck. Cley

    Can anyone identify this suregrip?

I see I can get the stuff like side gears and a re build kit from Dr Diff for pretty reasonable price. I just wish I could confirm it's a D-60 carrier. I'm pretty sure the 22934x is the carrier part number but I can't find a way to confirm that. I guess I'll contact Dr Diff on Monday. Cass seems...

    Can anyone identify this suregrip?

So I got this diff delivered 2 days after paying the guy. Came with a ring and pinion and some other stuff. Any idea how I can confirm what I have? Definitely a Powr-Lok from what I found on the internet. Only numbers on it are 22934X and 12 11 64a. I have yet to find anything on the WWW. Cley

    Can anyone identify this suregrip?

Yeah, for 150 bucks delivered I hope it works out for me! My sons truck has open diffs front and back. This will give him a sure grip in the back. If he wants more than that he can do it himself after I'm done with it. Cley

    Can anyone identify this suregrip?

I found this for sale locally. Advertised as a sure grip for a Dana 60 31 spline. Was going to use it for a late 70s 3/4 ton Dodge Dana 60. Seller says it had 4.10 gears on it so the case should be correct that way. Any ideas? Cley

    Is this an A500?

This is a picture of the A500 I had built for my Duster. They are longer because of the O/D section between the main body and tail shaft housing. I'm pretty sure those pics you posted are a 904. @moparmat2000 posted better pics than mine. Cley

    Rear End Gears

When I first installed the A500 in my Duster I had 3.21 gears in an 8 1/4 with a 25.5" tire. It drove really well but to get the cruise RPM up to where I wanted it to be I was highway driving about 80 mph wherever I went. That's just where my engine wanted to be. I now have 4.10s in an 8 3/4...

    46re Trans Swap

Seems odd they would control shifts by speed sensor alone. You'd think a throttle position sensor would be needed too. Cley

    46re Trans Swap

The only issue is controlling them. They are the same dimensionally as the hydraulic version. If a trans controller were available they would be a great option. I have never heard of a controller that will work but it may be out there. Cley

    518 in an A body

The top brace isn't more than a half inch I dont think but I still dont think the width of the OD section will fit unless you remove the sides of the brace. Cley

    518 in an A body

I think you'd have to lower it a long way because the width limits you as well. These photos show my modified tunnel with the A500 installed. It is shoved over to the drivers side in these photos. You can see how it was widened all the way to the inside bolts. Cley
