    Main Studs??

my only concern is that i have seen many times a guy measures clearances at home and its off Be it : cheap tools inexperienced hand temperature change from home to machine shop etc mainly a machinist who has 30+ years knows how hard a gauge should drag to get REPEATABLE results all day...

    Main Studs??

Clamping force is different from bolts to studs - Period. Just because something runs does not make it right. Nor will it last as long as something correctly blueprinted to EXACT tolerances... When I built my 430 I measured the differences at the mains and also at the deck with and without...

    Valve to piston clearance ?

without knowing alot more information like piston , deck height, gasket thickness and so on it;s not easy to say, but it sounds like you have a friggin mile... you need to be at lease .090 and you got that!

    stroking a 440??

it technically will fit, but you run the risk of findout what the weak link is... and we already know that the block , particularly at the main webs is the weak link with that much hp. Most people will use an aluminum cap at that point to soften the blow... and if you have any detonation kiss...

    Tunnel Ram 383

Alot of people have opinions but not alot of people have run them. Mines a 9.4:1 360 - I put the eddy street ram on it for the small plenum. Holley 390's with the vac tube - the signal is the same -you just want the carbs to open the exact same time so the balance tube draws the same vacuum no...

    354 or 392? Hemi? Questions?

early hemi's in cars came with a center sump that wont clear the steering, I think industrial motors had a rear sump that does clear the centerlink. or vice versa - i cant remember off the top of my head TRWaters makes an adapter kit that bolts to any small block mopar tranny - I have a 331...

    383 piston choice

cool... I had the option for speedpro pistons but they had no valve relief in them and I didnt like that option. so the KB 400's were the next one, and still alot cheaper then custom

    383 piston choice

i went with a KB 400 piston - its a dome but got me to 9.4:1 It was a 383 mag, that was supposed to have 10:1 - it actually had 8.6:1 after I measured it

Drops 500 RPM when I put it in gear

yea it always drops. you are putting the motor under a load. The only way you could have it not drop in rpm is with and EFI air controller to compensate for the load.

Drops 500 RPM when I put it in gear

what does it do when you put it in gear now?

Drops 500 RPM when I put it in gear

For now just set your total timing and let the initial fall where it may - do you have an MP dist? mines around 17 initial with it set up at 34 total. YES! it will raise your rpm as well.

Drops 500 RPM when I put it in gear

if its a lean mixture you will have a bigger rpm drop. fatten the idle and see what it does.
