Hey abodyjoe, I agree with the part about not buying "coated " headders BUT if you had the headders coated by Jim Kolbrick @ New Image in Struthers, Ohio you would see that by doing them properly they last 10 times longer. I have a set that he did for me 15 years ago hanging up on my garage wall...

Adding Bronze Bushings to Ductile Iron Rockers

I recently had a failure on a bronze bushed aftermarket Crane iron BB rocker on the dyno. Half of the bushing came out and tied up the rocker which in turn caused the lash cap to spit out. Luckily we caught it right away and was able to replace the rocker and finish dynoing. I have been looking...

    New Small Block Headers

As you get into that quality & price I think I would go with Mark Leelchock of Performance welding in Forstell Ca. He is by far the BEST when it comes to SBM or any Mopar for that matter !

    W2's

Has anyone ever seen pics of the heads that Bob Glidden ran on his Arrow ? I remember he set a record the very first time he had the new car out ! Bob Glidden had to be one of the very best as he did almost everything himself with his family. I would really like to see what castings he used and...

Anyone build a high RPM 273 using 2.02 size head?

I remember a guy that raced at Quaker City Dragway near Salem Oh. by the name of Dave Baker with a 68 Dart stick shift that had a 277 winding motor in it that ran well into the 9's. Him & his Dad had an engine shop out that way somewhere, I think his Dad passed away. Smart guys both of them.

    Old Race 340 Teardown

I believe the reason why the doubler plates were welded on was they had to cut so much OFF the manifold to get it to fit that it looks very thin in some areas. Is anyone else seeing this ?

    Old Race 340 Teardown

One thing I see different on the 810 castings from mine is the dual mounting holes for exhaust flanges, mine only has the wide spread holes. Can you show the adapter plates for the headders please ?

    Old Race 340 Teardown

I have those same 810 castings for a future project, I really like the exhaust port shape on mine. I was told by Dave Koffel that these 810 castings were what he called "hand wiped" as they are smoother on the outside of the castings VS. the newer stuff which is rougher and some of the parting...

    Destroked Small Block?

We used a big block chevy forged rod, I think the C to C was 6.442, which enabled us to use a lighter piston with less comp. height. We also ground the crank down to a chevy size, I think the rod ratio was almost 2 to 1. The motor really liked to rev quick , it was built about 30 years ago and...
