Need help with '74 Space Duster seatbelts

I have the front and rear retractors but I do not have the buckles. I am looking for all four, don't care about the rear middle (if there was one). I have replaced the front bench with custom buckets from Jegs so I need short buckles so the 3-point factory harness works correctly. They don't...

Hey, you did it! Nice job. What are you doing for a dome light? The LED festoon bulbs work great!

What color do I paint the dash?

Yeah, that's good stuff. I just bought a few cans and used it on some engine compartment goodies. It really looks nice.

What color do I paint the dash?

I used SEM Landau black. I love their paints for interior trim. It is basically a satin black. It does scratch fairly easily. Next time I will just drag it to work and use a catalyzed base with a matte clear.

Best place to buy interior carpet???

ACC in all of my cars. Their molded carpet fits very well and only needs trimming at the sill plates.

Thanks. I bought 5 yards of the vinyl to do my door panels and package tray as well. I think those will be WAY easier than the dash pad was. I also did the dash face and glovebox door as you can see and then did stainless trim around the seam. The heat gun formed it nicely around the glovebox...

I used the 3M spray adhesive instead of the contact cement BECAUSE if you get a wrinkle with the contact cement, it is there forever! You can reposition the 3M although I try not to move it. Take the foam covered frame outside and give it several coats. Do the same to the backside of the vinyl...

This is black vinyl. Because Black Vinyl Matters. Once you go black, oh never mind. Lay the vinyl out and cut it smaller than you need. I mean BIGGER. Much bigger. I used new scissors and they were dull by the time I finished. This stuff has a very tough woven backing.

See how easy that was? It always is when someone else is doing the work! You sure you don't want to pay that dude? Okay... Let's test fit it. Bitchin! That's gonna leave a mark. Hey, now is the time to shape the foam if you want to and make sure you glove box door does not hit the foam when...

It is best if you spray the Landau top adhesive but no way I was going to do that inside my house! It was in the 20's here so I could not do the work in the patio like I usually do. If at all possible do this work outside so you don't end up like me. "I'm stuck on glue. Not matter what I do, I...

You still here? Man, you have no common sense at all! Or maybe, you just like glue. Mmmmm glue. That's probably it alright. Here are the chems I used. I even used some of them on this project.

You are going to need some GOOD scissors. The ones you use to make your paper dolls with are not good enough. You need the running kind. The ones momma warned you about. I use Fiskars and cutting foam and vinyl wipes them out in short order so you will need a sharpener too. Cut your foam quite a...

Frickin yummy! Right??? Trade ya for that Six Pack air cleaner over there, bud! Anyway, here it is with the funk removed... Yes, I use my kitchen as a workshop and the floor is ruined. Yes, I am single. No, you are not my type! Let's move on...

So now that sucker is out of the way and in the driveway I got a putty knife and went nuts on it. I put "Working Man" by Rush on loop and got to work. 10 plays later, I had enough vinyl off of it to fire up the air compressor and hit it with some green 3M RoLocs. RoLoc and roll baby! Some more...

Isn't she beautiful? I can't imagine anyone being more proud of this! Oh wait... this is the before pic! :) WHAT A FREAKIN TURD! It looks like it caught on fire and melted. I really hated sitting behind this and had actually made a black carpet mat to hide it. That's why there is old glue on it.

I said I would post some pics when I finished it so here goes. This by far, was the hardest job I have done yet on ANY car! I have no training whatsoever and have never done one before. I did some research and found what materials and chemicals to use because I have had prior adhesive disasters...

    Bucket seats and consoles

I mounted some aftermarket bucket seats with universal brackets. I was able to drill the brackets to use the outer floor braces right through the factory undrilled mounting holes (braces were drilled, floors were not). So the seats are where they should be and very strongly mounted. NOW...

    Do it yourself interiors!

Since I am on vacation (staycation) I decided to knock out the interior on the Duster. This is no small task as it is COMPLETELY gutted.I got the seats mounted yesterday and was able to sit in the car for the first time last night... in the garage... listened to Rush (the band not the...

    Metal kick panels

Get a piece of cardboard and some scissors and make the required shape. It looks to be very simple. Then trace that onto your sheetmetal and cut it out. I make all of my templates this way.

can/has it been done?? home made headliner...

I had my old one recovered by a friend that does interiors for $0. He used a modern foam backed black cloth that has tiny lines in it. I think it came out great as is a better insulator. I also insulated the roof with reflective foil sound deadener. The second one I did myself (different car)...

I never had a glove box liner in my '74 Duster. Finally got one and have no idea what holds it to the dash frame? Anyone have a picture or diagram? Maybe I can make a strap or something.

    Jeg's SUCKS

I am fixing the driver's seat right now. About 75% done right now. Had to pull the cover off it and do some light metal work. While I am in there I am modifying the bolsters to be more firm. It's going to work out but my labor...

    Jeg's SUCKS

*** UPDATE! *** Jegs still SUCKS. Another piss poor seat. Worse than the first one, didn't think it was even possible. Not only is the vinyl loose on the side bolsters and like a washboard, but the headrest supports are so crooked and crushed I can't even insert the posts! There goes another...

    Jeg's SUCKS

See, what really pissed me off last night was the fact that will not ship another seat until they get this one back! So I get to wait another week. Jeg's SUCKS

I have been waiting since January for a pair of seats they said were in stock until I ordered them. Their Ebay store shows them in stock as well. They changed the backorder date 4 times. Finally June 20th was their latest move and I cancelled the order. I asked them to send different seats and...
