    Rear quarter lip mods?

I cut mine to just outside the spot welds, then rolled them, then grinded smooth so if it ever hits (which it won't), it would only scuff the sidewall and can't cut. If you try to roll without cutting the metal back first, it can wrinkle and pop the paint. I've done that too! LOL.

    Street tires??

These: nitto nt555 extreme 275 50 17 Fantastic tire, I have them on the Dakota R/T and the Duster. The work GREAT in the rain and very good in the dry. 27.8" diameter by about 10.2" wide mounted on a 9.5 wheel.

When/how/why max tire pressures raised from 35 PSI to 44 PSI?

Pretty sure all new vehicles are required to have tire pressure sensors now. With that being said, losing 5psi from 60-55 is a lot less variance than 35-30 in how the tire will perform. Also, but running much higher pressures you can run a thinner sidewall and save weight while decreasing...

TIRES TO FILL IN THE VOID ON 17" RIMS-my new tires suck

I run 275/50/17 and it has a nice sidewall because the diameter is 27.5 inches. I showed them to a few people and they don't even notice they are 17's until I tell them.

    M/T ET street S/S. VS. Nitto NT555R

Yukon axles are just fine. I have them in my Dana.

Conical seat lugs on drag car

Quickest I have been with acorn nuts was 12.50 on slicks but that was only a 7/16 stock stud and did just fine. I now have that style wheel for my Duster and it SHOULD be a 10.50 car w/long ARP 1/2 studs so we shall see. No transbrake though.

How much clearance do I need?

That's gonna rub BIG TIME. Those sidewalls are flexible and when you corner the wheel will move in and out on the tire causing the sidewall to scrub the spring.

    295/65/15 tire size question

I run those same Mickey's on my other car. But the Duster got 275/50/17. The Mickey's have way too much sidewall for handling. They also don't like a lot of psi or they eat the centers out. I run them on a 15x10.

    M/T ET street S/S. VS. Nitto NT555R

Just my experience, about .15-.20 60 foot difference between Nitto's and Mickey's and yes that is a helluva lot! The Nitto's work GREAT in the rain but I still pulled them off and sold them. They also run SMALLER than the Mickey's for a given size. I am talking 1/2 narrower tread and a shorter...

How much tire can I fit?

+8 on the 9.5 and +0 on the 7. What is +8? A quarter inch? I wish they would get back to inches this math is driving me crazy!

How much tire can I fit?

I would polish the spoke edges and the rim edge on this one because it is too much black with the tire mounted.

How much tire can I fit?

Okay, so I figured out my backspacing and ordered wheels and tires. Fingers crossed I might actually know what I am doing! 17x7 (would like narrower but all they had) in front, 17x9.5 (wanted a 10 but close enough!) in the rear. 225/50/17 front Nitto Extreme 555, 275/50/17 rear Nitto Extreme...

How much more tire if moving springs but NOT mini tubbing?

Just wondering if anyone has some photos? I don't need much more room and I think moving the springs would get it done and still keep my folding seat/custom baffle board intact.

How much tire can I fit?

The ones I got have 10 holes in them and flop around on the studs! I only use them for mockup. I would want something that fits tightly.

How much tire can I fit?

So, if the 28x10.5 slick is 12.5 section and 10.0 tread x 28 diameter a 295/55/15 that is 11.9/10.6 x 28 should fit with a 5.5 backspacing... aw hell I am goin for it!

How much tire can I fit?

So it is getting close to tire and wheel time for my '74 Duster. It has a Dana 60 and Caltracs, stock tubs and trimmed quarter lips. I pulled out some new 28x10.5 Mickey slicks mounted on 15x10 Welds and mocked them up. The Welds are 3.5 backspace so I knew that wouldn't work. But I have extra...

I can't find any pictures of your car that shows wheel fitment. Got any big pics? BTW: Used to cruise State St. in my Camaro back in the 80's!

    17" front runners

Anyone running these? What tire size? I think I can go 25.5 height max and want to use a 17x4.5 wheel. Is 205 50 17 the right tire?

Choosing a Drag Radial, Harder then I thought....

Why do you want to run a street tire on a track car? I pick none of the above and go to a slick.

Trouble with MT ET Street Radials

Oh, I have been down this road. And I fought and I fought and got nowhere. Let me tell you how to resolve this. See, the ET Street radial is a RACING tire with DOT stamped on the sidewall. If you do a road force test on your machine at work (ours can) you will find soft and hard spots on the...

    Nitto NT555R Drag Radials

I have tried all 3 brands and here are my findings: In the rain, Nittos hands down. Longevity, Nittos again. Dry traction, MT ET Street Radials Track ONLY, MT ET Street bias plies BFG Drag Radials - DUMPSTER (Broke loose at the track on the 2-3 shift and went sideways down the...

    Mickey Thompson Tires "Suck"

Well, I have ran 28x10.5 ET Streets and don't even attempt to balance them. The car does not vibrate or shake at all. I also don't balance my slicks. I run BOTH tubeless! Coat the inside carcass (not the bead!!) with a very strong solution of Dawn dishwashing liquid and water. Let it dry before...
