Removable skid plate for k frame

I thought someone may be able to use the idea or modify it for their own use. My oil pan hangs down below the k frame and I wanted some protection. In the photos I used square tubing and plate and welded grade 8 bolts inline with the 2 holes from the factory on the k frame. This allow the k...

Sorry for the delay, this is how it turned out. Looks like there is lots of room. Thanks again for the help! Andrew

1968 Dart steering column length Grew

Will do. Probably tomorrow. I am doing this to eliminate the adapter / extender that I borrowed from a friend and it eliminates one more joint. I have no use for the flaming river coupler on the left side picture. Had I known the above, I may have been ok. The set up I am now using is PN FR1505M...

1968 Dart steering column length Grew

I had it hanging vertically from the garage ceiling and I guess over 18 months, gravity took over.

1968 Dart steering column length Grew

Apparently not. I have way forward now. I have my old coupler set up to measure against the new flaming river set up. I can post a pic after if anyone is interested.

1968 Dart steering column length Grew

Same steering box. Just wondering if I can tap on the end of it to collapse it or if it is a solid bar / rod from the steering wheel to the steering box. Thanks

1968 Dart steering column length Grew

look for some ideas on what happened to my column length. I went to put the column back in today and it’s a good 2”-3” longer at the u-joint. Are these solid steel shaft or does the center slide in. If you look at the picture, you can see where the bearing sat. Can I tap this is with a mallet...

I ran super stock springs with Mopar SS shocks on the street with no issues. I believe I found the shocks at my local dealer.

    Bent upper control arm?

I had the same problem with mine. I bent it back into shape only later to have issues with the ball joint installation. I ended up buying a set of QA1’s.

    Cleaning up torsion bars.

I spoke with our M&PT engineer today at work about this. If you are cleaning them up with no significant dwell time, no issues. I blasted mine and I am not worried about it at all. Sounds like another mind fuc / best practice. You would have to seriously blast the crap out of them to impact the...

NEW PST pivot shaft bolt sheared off. Can't get LCA out.

I have had my own share of issues with my “super kit”, I was never able to get things resolved and returned what I hadn’t already damaged during installation. It’s extra frustrating for me as I paid duty as I live in Canada and had to cross the border to salvage what I could in my return. I will...

Nope, is that a must? Calvert racing never mentioned anything or best practice.

    8 3/4 housing U-bolt torque

I just installed my Caltracs and mono leafs and they wanted 75 - 80ftlbs. I torqued them to 75 and I can feel the threads and bolts stretching. I found the factory torque spec in my manual somewhere. I think the guys above are correct with 40 - 45.

Rear shock length and options for Caltracs

THanks guys. I plan to sandblast and paint the other side today and install. I never thought about the shock body concern, so thanks crackedback for mentioning that. I will jack the car up and let the rear suspension hang on it on weight and see what I got. I will post afterwards. Andrew

Rear shock length and options for Caltracs

I am going to have to move the shock inboard 1” inch for added clearance. This puts me right at the scrub line. That will be this weekends project.

Rear shock length and options for Caltracs

Got it sorted, one side done, one to go. Set it with 3” of chrome showing with the double adjustables. Hope someone finds this helpful in the future. Shock dimensions were based off of the super stock shock length. Andrew

Rear shock length and options for Caltracs

Looking for ideas on shocks or plate modifications for my 68 Dart. My springs have been moved in board and I purchased the -1 mono leafs. I am 14 3/4” from eye to eye. I purchased QA1 TD901 and they are too long. I am considering purchasing the TS709 or welding up a new lower mounting point 2...

    -1 Caltrac mono leaf

I have QA1 double adjustable rear shocks with my Super Stock springs and I am wondering if I will have an issue with them being too long if I buy a set of -1 mono leafs? The shocks are 14.870 to 23.870. Thanks
