    440 funny sound

Put one end of a broom handle on different moving parts, and the other end on your ear.

75 Dart /6 wont start. Electrical?

I agree with the others. You have ignition, and gas (spray can), but no compression because the valves are stuck open, Gunked up from not running much. Don't adjust your valves until you free up any stuck valves. Oh, the deuce and a quarter IS the slant big block!

What ET should my Duster be running?

Thanks for following up. Lots of folks never do. The timing fix is easy and essential. Is your compression really 9.2? Was it checked? Even if it is, that's not much. Don't give in to N2o or more mods until you get what you have right.

    Why? Why????

Like Moper said, you want to check ALL the holes. In a way, you're lucky you broke one, if you didn't squeeze those head gaskets right, you'd had more problems later.

Slant 6 to 440 any parts to keep?

Guess it's too late now but if it was a 198, the rods have value.

    71 DEMON - slant6/3 speed manual to RB/727 - Questions!

Leave the clutch pedal there and put it under the rug. 66 w/ a 360? Edit: I guess you meant 361?

    318 to 440

Yeah, that's a pretty generic question. I think you'd do best to search the web, learn what you can, and then ask more specific questions on here.

    Redneck budget a-body rear end???

http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=24961&highlight=8.8+ford I think I've seen other threads about this on here, too.

    440 Six Pak

I remember reading in a car mag years ago that they took the jets OUT, on a blown motor! But, it was a magazine. Not known for great advice. I agree, they should be rich, though. Sorry I'm not much help. But as far as cfm ratings, this is from Mike Urich's HP book: One and two bbls are...

    Never tried this before!

Just another opinion, rbdart: The aftermarket has been building brand new 9" rears for racing for years. They haven't been building 8 3/4's. Dana's were always considered strong, but too heavy for racing. If I remember correctly, racers used 9" rears because they were the strongest and...

Question for PA folks: Thru-the-fender exhaust legal?

With all due respect, and at the risk of hijacking this thread, why would you want to get pulled over? For one thing, that "dumbass cop" might have your brother-in-law pulled over while he or she could be helping someone with a legitimate need. For another, the side of a road is a very...

    Direct Connection Crossmember.

It seems Schumacher's are the way to go. $159.00 Am I missing something? Why pay $300-400 for the DC piece? Collector value of some sort?

    Direct Connection Crossmember.

When I had a BB Dart in the 80's, it had a crossmember w/ spool type factory mounts that DC sold. Do any of them surface nowadays? I guess the Schumachers(sp?) have eliminated their practicality.

    Fenderwell Header Cut-Out

I should have been clearer, TonyGTS. You're right, smaller diameter tires clear the headers (though I think they still rub on bumps). I like to use as tall a front tire as possible to increase rollout at the track.

    Fenderwell's, or under chassi

Fenderwells for me! (Back when I had a BB Dart.) Everything is very accessible under the car. I don't like them hanging out the side, though. I painted mine flat black. (The lower end.) The other issue is tire clearance. Not too bad in a limited-use car.

    Fenderwell Header Cut-Out

Thanks, Twisted-72. I didn't realize the Hooker's had directions like that. I guess the best way is to put the block and heads in the car and fit them from there.

    Fenderwell Header Cut-Out

Is there a templete as to where to open them up? It'd be nice to cut it out before painting. Fenderwells limit tire clearance, but on a limited use car they sure do make for easy access to the starter, etc.

Show Your Big Block A body!

Thanks Longgone. I used to have a 69 440 6pk Dart. I'm now building a 74 Dart Sport small block stroker. I think the OD would be great. Your use sounds like the way I plan to use mine; a little track, some cruising. However, this new section is making me think about another big block...

Show Your Big Block A body!

Hey Longgone: How do you like that Tremec? Did you use a kit? Has it handled much abuse? Nice cars, all.
