    resetting or changing out gauge

Dan: you should write a book! The car in question is the 63 valiant. The other gauges do work well and I believe they are accurate. I have had the car for only a year and a half so I don't know all of it's history obviously. The gauge looks to be stock, the engine is original. So where do...

    resetting or changing out gauge

yes, the gauge wiring leads to what looks like a bolt head to me on top of the head. The guy at the radiator shop tested it at 170-180. Little round thermometer. Thanks for the help sorry for the ignorance but I'm trying. Anyone know who where to get the temp sender unit?

    resetting or changing out gauge

The temp gauge in the car works but is on the high end of the normal range. The radiator fluid is running at about 170-180. Is there a way to reset or replace that piece attached to the block. Sorry don't know what this is called.

    71 Duster slant 6 cooling?

I would say the radiator is suspect. All of my cars have been slant 6s and I had one that did exactly what you described, fine at high speeds, hot in town. Those radiators are easily available; 1-800-radiator carries them for less than $200. I don't know about the quality. Also I see that...

    radiator fit

65 Vart that's very generous. PM sent C130 Chief thanks for the this advice and other replies. Looks like the 63 has enough room to house the mounting flange if I drill some new holes.

    radiator fit

Anybody know if a 67 radiator core size 17x19x1 1/4 would fit in 63 with a 170/6. 63 seems to be it's own beast. 1 800 radiator only carries radiators back to 67 for valiants.

    radiator cap pressure

Thanks Dan. went to change the thermostat but the lower bolt is frozen. (I posted a tread on this). The guy who helps me didn't want to force it afraid the bolt head would snap right off. Then what? He claims the water pump housing makes it impossible to reach that bolt with his drill so he...

    radiator cap pressure

I need a new cap. The one I am replacing is for a 63 /170, it's pressure rating is 14lb. The one on my 68/225 is 7. The radiator in the 63 is old and I am not sure how well it is working. The gage reads high but I haven't overheated. Thanks for any suggestions.

    heater core question

To replace the heater core (/6 68 valiant) do I need to, or is it best to pull the entire box or can I work on it under the dash? Thanks for advise

    running hot

Have a very clean 63 Valiant 200 that is running hot. Thinking of installing a new thermostat 180o and hope for the best or should I just go for a recore or new radiator if I can find one that fits. Is the 63 interchangable with 64-66. This is a 170 slant, auto trans. Any advise is welcome.
