It's a Offenhauser tunnel ram, not a blower. As far as detonation goes, my motor is 10.75 to 1 compression and I run 100LL AV-Gas.

    V8 vs V6 Gas Pedal

Screw all that push me pull you Rube Goldberg factory kickdown linkage crap and put a Lokar or equivalent cable set up on it. Easy to install and adjust, way simpler and works perfect.

    " Poll time"

I'm glad I could help! It was a big relief for me too cause I was getting tired of pulling that trans! And by the way, a firm handshake will do just fine.

    " Poll time"

Food for thought, I just got rebuilding a 69 GTS Dart for a customer. Originally it had a 383 and a 4 speed but he changed it to a 440 in the late 70's. Anyway when I got the car finished and started to test drive it it had a horrendous clutch chatter. It chattered so bad it was hardly driveable...

    440 Source Aluminum Heads

Yep! I have a set on my 470 stroker. I changed the springs to what Comp Cam suggested, added 10 degree locks and retainers and used better valve seals. Other than that they are just as they were out of the box and work great. Get ya some!

    Mopar Muscle Magazine

Here's the latest, About 6 months ago Mopar Muscle Magazine ran an ad for readers that had Mopars to send in pictures of their cars and the magazine would have a special 'Readers Rides' issue in November. They were also obviously fishing for cars to feature. I sent in some pictures and...

    440 Rear main seal question

Hey guys, I'm going to build a 440 for a 69 Dart GTS in a few weeks. I'm gonna use the stock forged crank which has a crosshatch in the rear main seal area. Back in the day I learned that the crosshatch means that it must use a rope seal for the rear main seal. Has anything changed over the...

    Which dual quad set up?

Thanks man, I appreciate that a lot!

    Which dual quad set up?

Here's my Duster with a low deck 470 with an old Offenhauser tunnel ram with 2 Holley 600 vacuum secondaries. It's got stealth heads, a Comp mechanical cam and 2" Proparts headers making about 550 hp. I don't care about hood clearance.

Does a 1971 Duster require inner fender cutting?

Those huge holes are cut to accommodate Hooker Super Competition fenderwell headers.

    Big block kickdown substitute.

Exactly! Get a Lokar or similar cable setup. Clean, simple, easy to adjust. Far superior to the Rube Goldberg, push-me-pull-you linkage junk. :)

    Oil pan and pump question

I've also got a 1/4" stud girdle, no problem there. I did cut a notch out of the right front corner of the K frame just to make engine removal/installation easier but it's not absolutely necessary. I've got 4 inches of ground clearance at the oil pan, I've never had a problem with that.

    Oil pan and pump question

I've got the Milodon 30930 and 1/2" pickup and Melling HV pump in my 470 and it works perfect. As long as you don't lower your car, ground clearance will be fine.

    440 piston part #

Put a P in front of the part number. All mopar preformance part numbers have a P in front of the numbers. It started back when Direct Connection used the P to designiate performance parts.

What is your favorite performance muffler?

I've got Spintech mufflers and tips on my 470 Duster. I used them because I wanted 3" inlets and outlets on the same side and set it up like a T/A Clallenger or AAR Cuda exhaust system. I think they kick ***! They are as mello as a 3" system can be at an idle or cruising and sound awesome when I...

    440 Handling?

Exactly! A RB or especially a B motor with all aluminum parts doesn't weigh any more than a stock small block. It can be done, you just have to plan your build accordingly.

    Engine bay

The valve covers are from Hughes Engines. AR Engineering makes the alternator bracket kit I bought from 440 Source. The alternator they use is a Denso 60 amp from a late model 4 Runner. Thanks guys I appreciate it.

    Tunnel Ram Power Band?

Tunnel rams are awesome on the street! My build is different than yours but any of them can be tuned to run well on the street. I've got a 470 low deck, 10.5 to 1 compression, stealth heads, 2" pro parts headers and a Comp XE282S solid cam. It makes around 550 horsepower. It idles at 800 rpm in...

    440 source stealth heads

Yes, that's the set up I have. 470" low deck with 2" pro parts headers. I had to hammer the #4 pipe in right at the flange for clearance so I could get #4 plug in with a plug socket on it. I also had to drill 1" holes with a hole saw in both fenderwells to gain access to both #5 and #6 spark...

Who is using 440 source oil pans, timing chain&valve covers ??

I'm running 440 Source chrome stamped steel front cover, aluminum adjustable timing pointer and their chrome numbered harmonic balancer. Everything fits and works great but I had to modify my timing pointer so it read 0 at TDC. It was +4 degrees off so I had to chop off about 7/16" off of the...

    Fuel Question on BB

I'm running a 10.75 to 1 470" with Stealth heads, 550-600 hp. I have a 1/2" pick up with -10 line feeding a Race Pumps fuel pump. From the pump I have a -8 line feeding a Race Pumps regulator. From the regulator I have -6 line feeding 2 Holley 600's on a tunnel ram. Be sure you run a -4 return...

    440 source sleath heads

I don't know about what power gains you'll get but if you run them I would suggest changing to 10 degree locks and retainers and whatever springs your cam manufacturer suggests. If you have to run double springs you will have to change the valve stem seals too. If you run 3/8" push rods you will...

Cam choice questions, sorry long post

Survey says! After much deliberation and a lot of good advise I'm gonna go with a Comp Cams flat tappet hydraulic XE295HL and 1.5 ratio rockers. .564 lift intake and exhaust with the 1.5's Duration at .050" is 251 intake and 257 exhaust and a 110 degree lobe separation. It should be plenty...
