    new converter?

I just installed a hughes 2500 stall in my dart with a mild 360,3:55s and 26" tires. In my car it starts to flash about 2100.I would stay away from the Boss Hog,had one in my car lasted 3 yrs, crapped out Easter morning, weld cracked where the hub is welded to converter and spewed out 4 quarts of...

    centering rear end

Now I have a question about wheel studs.I planned on changing them any way since the studs were flush with lug nut when tighten even with out spacer.Popped out one stud to measure knurl/length.I have .472 knurl/1 1/2" length. The closest I've found is a .480 knurl/2 7/8" length. Will I have to...

    centering rear end

I had the tires mounted on the rims so they are now mine.I have a 1/2" between wheel lip and the tire, wheel lips already cut when I got it.Found a wheel spacer I had from my mustang redrilled it to 5x4.The drivers side is still a little tighter but not much.I can live with it,as long as it...

    centering rear end

both axles are out a little from stock, you can tell the drums don't sit in as far. When I pulled it apart last year to have the pinion and carrier bearings replaced,I had him pull the thrust pin out, they had left it in.I also took axles to make sure the bearings were pressed all the way on he...

    centering rear end

No end play adjustment with green bearings.1/4 could make the difference between the tire rubbing. They didn't rub on 15x7 wheels w 4"BS and side walls bulging.

My bro in law told me the same thing. He used to build submarines.Rear end had green bearings in it when I got it

    centering rear end

Thats what I was thinking. I figured moving the perches would be the easiest fix/cheapest fix.Ordering custom back spaced wheels isn't cheap. So should I be worried about the gear lube catching on fire. We're going to use a mig, don't think it would be as hot as a stick welder. If so I would pull it...

    centering rear end

the springs are good, not sagging, and don't appear to be bent.Measured from the perches to the backing plates and they are the same.No sign of frame damage.Have thought of putting in the off set shackle kit but don't plan on going any wider and have 3" exhaust and off set shackle won't clear the...

    centering rear end

I recently replaced all the bushings in my leaf springs and that helped with my rear end being off center, was 3/4",now is 1/2".which I have heard is not unheard of.But I recently bought new steelies,15x8 w/4 1/2 BS.The tires clear but the drivers side is awful tight.I have been thinking of...

    Talked to A and A

I was messing around out there yesterday, air tested it again, double checked band adjust.I used 30 psi of air and found that the front servo was leaking badly, air coming from around rod that hits lever, and bled down as soon as I let off air supply.Watched utube vids of test on 904 and had way...

    Talked to A and A

Got a little warm here yesterday,36,and got the motor n trans pulled.Pulled the pan and valve body and it's got a 4.2 lever in it so I'm going stay with that.I took a look at the front band and it doesn't seem to have much facing on it maybe 1/16". Couldn't get a real good look at it because...

    Talked to A and A

I'd be interested in that valve body,pm me about what you'd need for it.I'm going to try and get a hold of a guy I know from car nights, who has rebuilds his own 727's,who offered to tear mine down,to see if he would hold my hand while I tear this down to make sure I don't f this up.I would...

    Talked to A and A

Yes,I pulled the valve body, made sure it was clean and triple checked everything, they didn't change all the springs/manual valve or file the bore.It was after that the shift timing was corrected, hell they didn't even use the filter provided. The lever/band makes sense to me,because of not enough...

    Talked to A and A

This trans has been a pain since the start, first I was fighting soft 1-2 shifts, light or full throttle, and quick 1-2 shifts, regardless of where I set throttle pressure.Straightened out the quick 1-2 shifts as the tranny shop only installed half the shift kit I provided.I've already blocked the...

    Talked to A and A

Not sure what lever is in it now, waiting till we get a break in the weather to pull the engine.Just too damn cold,my garage is a POS,have to have car half way out,no depth.Plus everything is on plywood cause previous owner blacktopped inside.Just hate to go through all the work of pulling and...

    Talked to A and A

I talked to A and A about my soft 1-2 shift problems, under part/light throttle it shifts nice and firm under full throttle it's soft. They recommended upgrading front band and installing 5.0 lever. My 2-3 shift is good. Before I start buying parts I just wanted some opinions on this. The trans was...

    904 shifting weird

Sounds like kick down linkage needs adjusted, mine will do the same thing if kickdown cable is set too tight. Are you running a stock linkage or a cable setup?

    accumulator spring?

Took valve body apart and found that the TV valve wasn't ground down to.281,by pass spring showed no signs of white paint, valve body where manual valve goes in wasn't filed, manual valve wasn't indexed to 3rd partition and manual valve wasn't changed,it looks nothing like the picture in the...

    accumulator spring?

I tried the throttle linkage and all it did was push back the 2/3 shift and make it kick into passing gear @ light throttle. At light throttle it shifts later and firmer than at WOT.I also adjusted the front band which helped a little.

    accumulator spring?

Finally looking into why my car shifts so fast/soft into 2nd under WOT.Pulled the valve body this AM and there is no accumulator spring, top or bottom.TF-2 instructions say there might not be.As I'm not the one who installed the shift kit is there any way of telling if it's supposed to? Could...

    1st to 2nd slipping/quick

adjusted the front band,it's a little better, but still not right.Talked to Transgo,he said till I put a pressure gauge on it no sense talking about it,which I agree with.Wish I knew someone close to me that I could borrow one from.Found them online for 30-50 bucks, just have to add it to tools...

    1st to 2nd slipping/quick

I've got the kick down cable pulling back on the lever,I'm going to try adjusting the front band this weekend.I know where the adjustment bolt is located and have researched how to do it.I'm going to use a torque wrench cause I don't trust just using a short wrench.I can get things plenty tight...

    1st to 2nd slipping/quick

Trying to get some things sorted out before winter.Had my 904 rebuilt with a tf-2 shift kit also.Problem is under full throttle it shifts into second almost right away and softly .If I try and shift it manually it just slides into gear.Under light throttle it shifts harder and later than it does...
