    1966 valiant master cylinder replacement

Never mind on last post. Had the bleeder screws in and pumped up pressure high. Brake pedal went further after they were cracked. Thanks again.

    1966 valiant master cylinder replacement

Another dumb question. I have the mc on but don’t feel like I’m getting a lot of peddle travel. I slide the rod onto the mc then bolted back to the firewall and pressed the brake to push the rubber and rod back into the mc. I am getting fluid shooting up in the air in the front and just a little...

    1966 valiant master cylinder replacement

Thanks man that a good idea. I’ll be sure to hold it down when I go to make the change. I need to pull the original one today and get the push rod out. I’ll be sure to grab the original retainer and make the swap.

    1966 valiant master cylinder replacement

Ok awesome. I didn’t remember seeing one on the back of my 75 dart master cylinder when I installed it but that’s been a while. I should be good just installing the push rod and leaving the little plate screwed down?

    1966 valiant master cylinder replacement

Hey guys I just bench bled the master cylinder. Sealing up to a duel reservoir master cylinder (68 up if I’m not mistaken). Do I remove the screw in pic below? It looks like that is keeping the inside rod from coming out and draining all the fluid so it’s probably suppose to stay put but wanted...

    Measuring brake hubs.

Yeah I’ll check to see what it would to have them turned at least. The groove in the drum feels pretty deep so it may be beyond saving. Thanks for the heads up on the parts

    Measuring brake hubs.

Thanks projectile. I’ll take a closer look. When I pulled the tire off during lunch it was looked like a spider at some point built a mansion on the drum. I’ll hit it with a wire wheel. I’m pretty sure the are 9 inch but doesn’t hurt to clean things up anyways. I’m not even close to doing the...

    Measuring brake hubs.

Thanks for the list 67dart. That actually makes a lot of sense the way you explained that. I can almost guarantee no one around me has those tools anymore. I’m surprised when someone knows show to align the front end these days haha.

    Measuring brake hubs.

Thanks for all the answers guys. I figured they were 9 inch drums but no need to guess when I can ask. These are original drums as far as I know but there is a nice line ground into them. I’ll have them checked to see if they can be turned. Thanks again y’all.

    Measuring brake hubs.

Hey guys, I’ve got a 66 valiant and I need new drums for them. It’s drums all the way around with a 170 slant six. I’m sure I have 9 inch drums but want to be safe. I’ve taken measurements but not sure if I go inside to inside or outside to outside on the drum. I’ve attached pics for verification.
