TURNING A MAZDA INTO A MoPar

I opened the thread up to see how I could be amazed. All I can say is: cooollll.

Need ideas for interior trunk panelling.

Your idea of the thin particle board isn't a bad one. Attach the panels in a way that's not permanent: push pins, small screws, what have you. Then you can take 'em to the local upholstery shop to get the panels covered without having to leave the car. Once they're done, install them yourself...

how do I get my #$%@##$%^% windows clean?

Back when I detailed cars for a living there were certain things which were needed for glass: something to polish with, for those cars which had acid rain or heavy water stains; like the paste our glass pro pointed out, Sprayway, and newspaper, along with a microfiber polishing cloth. Never...

    Edward Scissorhands - HACK JOB!!

I've seen the lampcord trick, too. Also just installed a steering column in a Ford F250 for a guy who thinks he knows what he's doing (he's scary to work around I don't like having him in the shop, but he's a hanger-on for the guy who owns the place) who used speaker wire for something...

the seat bottom upside down closer view of the corner which fits around the wheelhouse from the front profile I got 26" on the hooks measuring from the outside of one to the inside of the other. This should put the centers at that measurement

Shape of '70 duster rear seat bottom

If the pics aren't up by tomorrow morning I'll take all the pics I can. Rafters aren't that high, just need to stand on the trunk of a Neon parked under 'em to get at 'em. By retainer clips, do you mean the hog rings?

Shape of '70 duster rear seat bottom

Not a prob. Since you needed pics of the bottom that fits around the wheelhouses, that's what I took shots of. Just give me descriptions of what you'd like pics of: top, bottom, close ups, not so close ups, and I can dig 'em out of the rafters for more detailed if you want.

Pics. The black one is a Duster rear seat. Ignore the white one, it's for my E-body.

    Rear Bench

What doesn't look right? From the Legendary Catalog the Duster/Demon is listed as being the same with the order codes as the '74 Dart Sport/Duster. Jamison's '72 Duster has a backseat from a '74 in it. Fit like a glove.

    Child Restraint conversion.

player1up, once upon-a-time Brock Yates wrote an article asking if people would drive safer if it was a sword which popped out of the steering wheel. It really posed the question of offsetting mentallity. The insurance industry did a study published in Auto Body News (or one of the other trade...

    Child Restraint conversion.

One of the things that people seem to forget, too, is that one of the reasons we have airbags, extra restraints, now, etc. is because the CAFE laws have forced the car manufactures to lighten the cars up. Less metal, ie, thinner gauge, more plastic in the outer shell. We got my wife's '87...

    Dash paint

carcrazy, the dash looks awesome! For metal dashes I've always liked to get the paint store to mix my colors using the glovebox door as a sample. They can use the scanner they have to figure out the mix, then throw in a flattening agent to bring down the gloss. This way I can get a good hard...

    Painting my steering wheel

I've had good success using a plastic adhesion promoter and spraying with the same paint I would any other part: urethane. The following pic is the dash of the '57 in my avatar. Dash, steering wheel, column, and surrounds all painted with single stage urethane with a flattening agent. (Yeah, I...

    Need help to remove seat.....

Nice looking interior. And you got the seats out! And you made 46 cents in the process. Can't beat that. Now don't spend it all in one place! :toothy10:

Cost to upholster front and rear seats

Gonna echo the sentiment of DIY. Seat covers are really not that big of a deal. Save the money you'd pay someone else to do it for another project on the car and do it yourself. Remember, if you get stuck in the process, we're all here to help out!

remove heat?? yes or no opinions

That's actually the most compelling argument that I've seen for leaving it in. Speaking of which I've got a heater to fix on a car that I've loaned out. Can't have a car that I own and let others drive freeze someone out... Loved the way VW thought they could route warm air off the exhaust...

    stripping chrome from plastic

Okay, think I'll go with the oven cleaner trick for the headlight and marker light bezels. Now any tricks for the chrome on the dash panel? It's surround for all the gauges is the fake wood graining I really don't want to eff-up. Wipe down with the oven cleaner or Bleach White until it comes off?
