    I had a similar issue. filled up the radiator ran it until the thermostat opened. installed the radiator cap. without the valve open in can cause an air pocket. Not 100% but worth a look.

    the vintage air unit comes with an electric shut off. when the heater is off the valve is closed. I mounted it on the inside of the firewall so you can't see it.

    I've read a bunch of posts lately about the champion radiator with a clutch fan w/shroud. I personally use a two speed taurus fan. But it won't fit without modifications and upgraded charging.

    rad fan questions

    never had good luck with flex fans. I would say the 5 blade with a clutch. The key is getting the correct fan shroud.

    Here is some pics from a while back. The only thing I didn't mention is the radiator support has to be trimmed to move the radiator towards the front bumper to clear the water pump. The motor of the fan is very close to the water pump pulley.

    this is what I have and it works great. thermo switch to control the low side and high side is wired to a toggle switch.
