Need a Pitman to gearbox nut for 71 Duster

I am in the process of putting my front end back together and noticed that the nut and washer that holds the pitman arm on the gearbox is missing. My new pitman arm did not come with one either. Does anyone have one or know where I can buy one? I was also gonna call Dick at Firm Feel tomorrow...

    LCA Pin Bushing coming unseated

I am using the Hotchkis adjustable strut rods...no bushings required for that setup. I did some adjustments on the rod ends and re-loaded the sway bar and everything stayed put this time. It looks like a geometry issue like mentioned. It took me three adjustments and each time the bushings...

    LCA Pin Bushing coming unseated

So shoud I keep on pressing with the build? Do you plan to reseat the bushing before you load the bars or are you going to load the bars and hope the bushing comes back in? How frustrating!

    LCA Pin Bushing coming unseated

I am in the process of rebuilding my front end and I am having issues with the lower control arm bushing backing out from the control arm. Here are some pictures of what I am talking about. Any suggestions? Everything is good to go until I tighten down the sway bay links and it backs out. The...

    New Idler Arm Binding

I think I am getting confused. Here is the bushing I am talking about with the arrow pointed to it. This piece does not move at all. I would think with the grease fitting on that, it would. Or does the whole arm rotate on the bolt?

    New Idler Arm Binding

OK I removed the idler arm to see what was going on and found that the piece going through the middle does not move at all. Is this supposed to roll or does it stay stationary? Here are some pics of the item in question. Thanks.

    New Idler Arm Binding

I am in the process of re-building the front end of my Duster and when I installed the new idler arm (Moog), I noticed it is really tight to move back and forth in the K-member. Is this normal since it is new or do I need to put a thinner spacer on the bottom. Right now it has the two foam...

Duster Rear shocks too short w/XHD Leaf

I took the lower shock off and pulled it to full extension. With the leaf hanging, the shock pulled past the shock mount 2.5in. Additionally, this car is going to be a street car only and will not see the track.

Duster Rear shocks too short w/XHD Leaf

I am not sure if I completely agree on this. Here are some pictures of the car on the ground and there is still alot of travel remaining on the shocks. Granted, the fuel tank and 16 gallons of fuel are not in there, but even still, there is a lot of travel remaining. I even got myself and my...

Duster Rear shocks too short w/XHD Leaf

I received the new shocks from Mancini today and installed them. Perfect fit and I have plenty of room now. Thank you everyone for the help and tips! Here are some pictures. Ken

Duster Rear shocks too short w/XHD Leaf

You bring up a good point here which is why I think I am gonna go with the 1" longer Rancho shocks. I also think it will take care of the over extension on the shock easing the pressure on the shock mounts when on jacks. I honestly do not think the brake hose will be an issue, because I have...

Duster Rear shocks too short w/XHD Leaf

It is hard to tell as they are air shocks. I know, I know! I just took them back to the auto parts store for a refund. I figured since I have new leafs plus reading all the bad reviews on air shocks I should go back to a normal shock. Now I need to choose which one! I was looking at the...

Duster Rear shocks too short w/XHD Leaf

No, when I drop the car down weight on wheels or use the floor jack to compress the leafs, the shocks will mount up.

Duster Rear shocks too short w/XHD Leaf

I just finished re-installing my freshly restored rearend on the Duster and noticed that my rear shocks may be too short. I also replaced the leaf springs with XHD springs and they state that they have 1" added to stock arch to give more room for larger tires and better traction. When I went to...

    Shackle Torques/Breakage

Any companies that sell the originals? It is hard to tell if the shackles are junk, like Mancinis, or beefy since they all look the same. I did find a beefed up set on Hotchins website, but they are not for an A body. Thanks again for the help. Ken

    Shackle Torques/Breakage

Is there a beefier shackle out there somewhere that anyone recommends so myself and other users on here do not have these issues with bolt breakage? I am tempted to make my own and just run two 1/2" grade 8 bolts through the brackets. Thanks for the feedback on them shackles! Ken

    Shackle Torques/Breakage

I am in the process of finishing up the installation of my freshly restored rearend/suspension. I am having issues with the shackles being torqued down. The book calls for 30ft lbs of torque, but when I go to torque them, the bolt snaps. I even lowered the torque to 20 ft lbs and it still...

    Leaf Spring Pad replacement

Well that makes sense then why they are not available for that car. I am just going to omit them then. Not sure if someone was trying something or if that rearend is from a B-Body or F Body like you all mention. Thanks everyone!

    Leaf Spring Pad replacement

I am trying to find a place to order new leaf spring pads. They are the pads that sit between the leaf spring and the perch. As you can see from the pics, mine have seen their days. I did a search on the forums and found this...
